GiX
Hi there, just a friendly note that I think you've used the wrong deletion category for GiX. WP:CSD#G1 is for WP:Patent nonsense only, which this is not. I probably agree that it should be deleted for one reason or another, but G1 should only be used for complete gibberish. Cheers.... justinfr (talk) 02:40, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

speedy deletions and patrolling
Iy's clear you are not a newcomer here, for you are doing quite effective patrolling. You are making a good many nomination for speedy deletion, most of which are valid, though not always for the reason specified. You should reread WP:Deletion policy and WP:CSD --the criteria for speedy are very specific. In addition it is required to indicate clearly that you are adding a deletion tag in the edit summary, . It helps us administrators & users review the articles. It is also considered polite, though not yet required, that you notify the authors of the articles so they have a chance to improve them. I'm a little puzzled--is there some reason you prefer doing this patrolling under an ip? Feel free to email. SAnd of course, feel free not to answer. DGG (talk) 07:50, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words. I'll try to remember to include "deletion" or "db" in the edit summary. Since the software automatically notifies article creators of db tags, I don't really feel the need to duplicate that work. (Besides, it's really onerous for IP editors without Huggle or TW or any of the other tools.) As for my reasons for staying an IP at this time, well, it's partially to raise awareness of IP discrimination on Wikipedia and partially because I don't want/need the extra abilities (page creation, etc.). 71.204.176.201 (talk) 18:56, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- the software notification is unfortunately unreliable. The guy who developed the bot left, and it was never fixed. Even when it does run, it runs irregularly, and usually notifies the people after the article has already gone, which tends to annoy them a little. The bot developers won't make another until we actually require its use, and some speedy patrollers don't want to actually require the use until there's a reliable bot. So in this absurd situation the only way to avoid BYTE is to do it manually--actually it's semi manual, because there's a template on the notice on the article page that shows up after you place the tag. This also gives the opportunity to add some personal advice, which often helps. The growth of WP depends on not discouraging the newcomers, even if they don't know how to write articles at the start. One thing you lose as an ip that might be of value to you is the ability to follow up declined prods or speedies with an afd. (And also to get the respect people tend to pay arguments from known editors--you are right there is some discrimination there). DGG (talk) 21:40, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- <sigh> I didn't know that about the politics of the bot - so much for making this a user-friendly process. Okay, for you, I'll occasionally throw the newbies a bone (even if it does dramatically slow the process, having to go to the page history to find the creator, then go to their talk page, then edit their talk page, then deal with that stupid "you've added new external links" bull$*!t EVERY SINGLE EDIT, all with a hit-or-miss connection). As for AFDs, I find that process to be ridiculously complex compared to the ease of creating junk articles. Talk about user-unfriendly!!! 71.204.176.201 (talk) 21:57, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

- Although I will admit that page moves would be useful, since it occasionally appears that 95% of Wiki-editors don't understand the proper use of capital letters. 71.204.176.201 (talk) 00:56, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

I have made some adjustments to my article as well as produced more substantial news articles. Please take a look when you get a chance and let me know if that better fits your definition of encyclopedic material. Mfields20 (talk) 09:06, 26 August 2008
- Looks much better; I've removed the tags. 71.204.176.201 (talk) 21:14, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Slide-related articles
Hi. I have scrubbed the entries of SuperPoke!, Top Friends, and FunSpace for commercial promotion. I honestly believe the articles, in their present states, are factual and relevant. I think it necessary that they exist, since there are 10s of millions of users for these products. I appreciate your constructive feedback, so please let me know if there is any further action I should take in order to get all those spam and conflict of interest-related disclaimers removed. I apologize for transgressing any rules, i'm simply new to contributing (though not using) Wikipedia. Arbitrary coherence (talk) 02:11, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
I delete that advice because it's a bit or very authoritharian. This band (Ultravox) had its history, and only for the charts, my article must be deleted!!!! It's unjust. So, see Shot By Both Sides single by an unknown but influyente, like Ultravox!, band Magazine —Preceding unsigned comment added by Francodamned (talk • contribs) 05:17, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- I can't say that I completely follow this, but I'm going to go ahead and AfD this article and let the process work itself out. Movingboxes (talk) 06:39, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Duly noted. A full definition of ATP will be used from the next possible article. Totalinarian (talk) 08:06, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Indian Banks' Association
You have nominated this page for deletion. If you are so sure of the same, please take the page to due deletion process or remove the tag after doing a little home work about the notability of this organization. In case, you fail to do this within a reasonable of a day, I or any other editors shall be free to remove the deletion tag put up by you. Cheers. --Bhadani (talk) 20:05, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- I have added a list of member banks to the IBA, I think that you may have a look as banks like Citibank N.A., BNP Paribas, Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of America do not become members of ordinary organizations. As regards discrimination about IPs as you have noted somewhere on your talk page, I am sure that IPs are generally not discriminated unless they do really silly things like vandalism, harassment, and similar things. Please be assured that you are as honorable as the best of editors. Cheers. --Bhadani (talk) 20:21, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words. While I agree that there may be some notability for the members, the core problem is that the article itself doesn't provide evidence that the organization is notable. However, if you wish to remove the tag, I have no objection. 71.204.176.201 (talk) 21:12, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- It is fine that you responded fast. Thanks. Most of the members are really notable otherwise pages related to them would have been deleted long back from Wikipedia. I shall add some more content in a day or two to indicate the notability of the IBA. In fact, it is a notable organization - the problem is that I have yet to add more contents to the page. I don't mind that the tag hags there - let it be there: as and when you or someone else find that notability is established, you or someone shall surly remove the tag. For the time being, I have dropped the idea to remove the tag until I add something more ... and, have a nice week end! --Bhadani (talk) 21:47, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Are you planning on adding all the characters you are redirecting to this page? If no, it is nonconstructive redirects. Ctjf83Talk 21:41, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- I have no such plans. Perhaps you should contact the person who's creating all of the articles and ask them to contribute constructively and within notability guidelines. 71.204.176.201 (talk) 21:47, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
