Stargate Worlds is a new MMORPG being developed by industry newcomer Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment in association with the film and television media company MGM. The game will allow thousands of players to interact in an online universe based around Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis.
Little so far has been released about the game, besides initial ideas and concept art, although one notable feature of the game recently released is that it will be completely canonical, adhering and contributing to the back story of Stargate SG-1.
Setting
Stargate Worlds will be based on the popular science fiction show Stargate SG-1. Original plans were to run it in sync with the show, but it (the show) was recently canceled even though 2 direct-to-DVD films are in the making continuing the storyline. [1].
The game will revolve at release around the Milky Way Galaxy, in the fictional storyline of the ongoing conflict between the Tau'ri and Goa'uld. Playable races as shown at this time will include Humans, Goa'uld, Jaffa, and Asgard.

Expected Playable Races
While the game was in the final stages of pre-production, Chris Klug, the project's Creative Director, mentioned that the game's planned playable races include Humans, Jaffa, Asgard, Symbiotes.[2] Each race will have several different factions. For example, human factions will include the Tau'ri and Offworld Humans; Jaffa factions include the Free Jaffa and Loyal Jaffa; Asgard factions include the Loyal Asgard and Renegade Asgard; and symbiote factions include the Tok'ra and Goa'uld. However, due to the game now being allocated out-of-sync with the shows' storylines, the factions per race have ruled out the Tok'ra. The reasoning is that the Goa'uld are meant to be a totally evil race. Also, there is some question to whether being a Free/Rebel Jaffa will be available immediately during launch.
In January 2007, the developers wrote in Ten Ton Hammer[3] they are currently working on the assumption that there will be Humans (Scientist, Archaeologist, Soldier and Commando), Jaffa, Goa'uld and Asgard as playable races/classes.
Recent discussion on the Forums also indicates that it will be likely that you can pick skills or sub-classes later on in the game, and that the archetypes will not be 'cookie cutter' types.
There are currently 5 playable races:
- The Tau'ri: The first race of humans in the milky way that challenged the Goa'uld
- The Goa'uld: An evil race which use humans as hosts
- The Asgard: A friendly race, allied with Earth and enemies of the Goa'uld
- The Jaffa/Free Jaffa: A strong willed race which has been used as slaves by the Goa'uld
- The Op-core: A faction of humans similar to the SG teams that think the end justifies the means. The Op-core are allies with the Goa'uld in their efforts to elimate the Tau'ri.
