Things Not Seen is a 2002 book by Andrew Clements.

Summary

The book is told by a 15 year old boy named Bobby Phillips. The book starts out when Bobby gets out of the shower (which he was taking in the dark to get some more sleep). When get's out he looks in the mirror and doesn't see anything so he looks again and still doesn't see anything and then he realizes he has become invisible. He goes to tell his parents, one is a professor, the other is a physicist. Both do not believe him at first, thinking that he is playing a joke on them. When they realize that it is not a joke and that Bobby really is invisible, his parents agree that Bobby can't tell anyone. Bobby gets angry that his parents have decided to make all of the decisions, so he pretends to storm out of the kitchen and leave the house. After his mom panics, he points out that he is not gone, but is frustrated that his parents have decided to take complete control over the situation. Bobby goes upstairs to nap, and wakes up to find out that both of his parents have left the house. He decides to get out of the house to the library. It's cold, as its February in Chicago, so he wraps up and is covered from head to toe. Soon after he arrives, he realizes that there is nothing for him to do there, so he decides to leave. On his way out the door, he runs into a girl, knocking her things onto the ground. When he bends over to pick them up, his scarf falls off, revealing his invisible flesh. Luckily for him, she is blind and thinks he is just an ordinary person. Bobby soon becomes her friend but one day as he was walking her home (he was naked so no one would see him)something happens and she feels his bare chest. He tells to her that he is invisible but it doesn't end the friendship. Bobby searches for the cause of his invisibility throughout the book and searches for a way to cure it. He travels all over Chicago trying to find out what happened. When he finds out how to cure it he turns visible. Then Bobby and the blind girl, Alishia, get in a huge fight. Alishia sends a message to Bobby so he decides go to her house and tell her that he loves her poem.
