Hi, welcome to my talk page. I just figured this out --Jaibe 12:31, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip on signatures a while ago. I'm removing the tip from my page. If for some reason you want a record that you made the helpful suggestion, I'll add it back, but to my talk page. Dvd Avins 03:00, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for policing my user page. I appreciate it. Bwabes 03:44, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Due to a series of poor edits, This page has ended up with the scurf of wikipedia on dead-end pages. As you were one of the last people to make a rational edit of this page, Could you make a revert back to something reasonable (probably your own last edit) MNewnham 22:28, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stuff I mean to work on one day

Polly (robot)

Hi. The article mainly describes a robotic application of computer vision, the Polly robot. The article says very little about the Polly algorithm in terms of what it actually does and how.

Some comments:

  • Don't see the recategorization as a "degradation". I only did it because it believe that (maybe incorrectly?) it fits the Application subcategory and that it should be better to have an article in a more specific category than a general one.
  • I agree that it appears like a stub, and there is also a subcategory for stubs in the CV category.
  • If you belive that the recategorization is incorrect, you should revert it. You know more about the article content than I do.

The computer vision stub category dissapeard just a few days ago. Apparently someone thought that it was redundant since there are more general stub classes, removed it, and put the articles in that category into the "Computer science stubs" category. --KYN 08:16, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Current thingy"

You're welcome, but to be fair I only thought to change it after I saw Fritz S. do it on the Fun Home page, so he should get the credit. :) —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 08:19, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fireworks

Yeah, I could have checked the history, but I was feeling lazy. :) I've looked at it now — and I think that if we can find a source for Bechdel meeting Rubin in Burlington in 1992, we should put it back in (with the proper citation, of course). I expect that this is an attempt to say, "now that the relationship is over, I'm not part of her public life any more", but sadly I don't think it works that way. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 21:18, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation.

Hello, I saw your edit to Timeline of same-sex marriage and would like to invite you to join WikiProject LGBT studies. We would be delighted to have you on board! Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 02:33, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm thinking about it. I'm not sure about how I feel about the relationship between wikipedia and activism, although in general I strongly support each.--Jaibe 22:39, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't notice this reply on your talkpage. I would like to say that we're not trying to push a particular POV, and incitement to votestacking in XfDs is strongly discouraged. We're not here to "gay up the 'pedia", we're here to work together to create neutral, factual, comprehensive coverage of LGBT people and issues in a more vandalised section of Wikipedia. We've done a lot of stuff since I last contacted you, check us out. I would really love you to be part of what we're doing. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 11:57, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK! Whenever you want to join, we'll be here. :) Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 18:02, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:StuartAdamson.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:StuartAdamson.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

http://www.measuresup.com/default.htm had "Well, it's 2007 and I'm still hanging around." and "This page updated:Monday, February 05, 2007" yesterday, and when I checked again just now. Linking the 'as of' and leaving it at 2004 just didn't seem right. 76.22.4.86 23:24, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Faderhuset

Thanks. I am very quick to make changes. I do not worry about making big changes. In this case: (1) this is a small article that I expect few editors will read; (2) I am guessing it was posted by a Danish person to fill out the recent world-wide news about the riots; and (3) I know utterly nothing about the group. They could be trying to convert the unchurched, or they could just as easily be very conservative. I thought I would leave it alone, let it be ambiguous, rather then introduce an error. In the case where: [a] I think I know what was meant; OR [b] I expect editors to read the article frequently; I just go ahead and make the change. I am not at all shy.

Thanks again.

Welcome!

Hi, Jaibe, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles of interest to the LGBT community. Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve LGBT-related articles, so if someone asks for help with an article, please try your hardest to help them if you are able.
  • Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
  • If you're planning to stay, have a square in our quilt! You can put anything you want in it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

You made it! *beams*. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 23:38, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, I was just editing Another Country (play) and (mysteriously) ran into you guys again. But I guess the cause I'd most like to spend time on on Wikipedia is actually atheism / antireligion. But those guys aren't as organized...

Animal Testing

Hello. Regarding this edit, you should probably find a reliable source and attribute the material, or else it will be deleted again before too long. Also, if you are interested in these issues, you might consider checking out Wikipedia:WikiProject Animal rights. Rockpocket 08:01, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I noticed you had added the source just after I posted! I concur with the having a preference for an animal welfare project, but in reality the animal rights project encompasses welfare and even animal use issues. There are members of the project from a range backgrounds (including those who experiment on animals themselves) and I think it is better for balance that everyone work together, than fragment into their own little mini-projects. Image:ArtSpiegelman.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:ArtSpiegelman.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Chowbok 18:35, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:AlisonBechdel.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:AlisonBechdel.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:58, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re

Hi. I answered there. Dahn 21:25, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted it under a 5-day-old proposed deletion tag, so if you want to recreate it, you're free to do so - prods don't carry the weight of an AfD discussion or the red flag of a CSD. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 22:02, 21 June 2007 (UTC) (cross-posted)[reply]

You certainly can see the text of a deleted article :) Well. You can if an admin shows you. I've placed the old article here, since you want to work on it. Hope that helps! Cheers, Riana (talk) 23:38, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Barbie_Army.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Barbie_Army.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 08:51, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please note -- MER-C already deleted an image of Alison Bechdel which also already had the explanation that it was a promotional photo and also only appeared on Bechdel's site. I think this user is confused and consequently performing (presumably-unintentional by dint of ignorance) vandalism. --Jaibe 11:13, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A quick note. As per WP:Vandalism, the term "Vandalism" is used for editing with no purpose other than disruption, and does not apply to good faith edits, however misguided or wrong you think them to be. Wikidemo 15:48, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the correction. I thought it was the willful destruction of content in violation of the community's rules for contribution.--Jaibe 07:30, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
