Inside Front Magazine was one of the first projects to come from the CrimethInc Ex-Workers' Collective, a decentralized anarchist publisher operating anonymously in the United States. Identifying itself as an "International Journal of Hardcore Punk and Anarchist Action", it spent almost 8 years pairing revolutionary anarchism with the contemporary anarcho-punk culture, calling for an aggressive attack on modern dominant society.

…the best thing about Inside Front is probably the real life stories told and referred to within its pages, by people who are trying to create revolutionary possibilities in their own lives.—- CrimethInc.om[1]

The magazine ran for 13 issues[1], the final 7 of which were accompanied by a supplementary compact disc or vinyl record compiling what it saw as "cutting edge hardcore punk". One of these was the release of Finnish criminals[2] ümlaut, which began a long-standing harassment campaign by the musicians, claiming to have been taken advantage of by the publishing collective.
