False vandalism warnings on this page
The vandalism warnings left on this page by User:YCV2007 were quite unjustified.[1] Tyrenius 23:33, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Discussion you might be interested in
Well not a discussion as yet due to the lack of replies, but see here. Please note that I'm not trying to whitewash any IRA involvement, merely make a broader point that whether potentially defamatory allegations where the person has no legal redress should be included simply because they are a matter of public record and can therefore be sourced. - Do you want to take a look at La Mon restaurant bombing and see if that's acceptable? I thought it best to clarify the political position of Iris Robinson, and I've removed the claim that the police were certain Adams carried out the attack, due to lack of corroboration. If you want to put that back in with a clarification that the PSNI haven't made any public statement to that effect I've got no problem with that though. Thanks. misuse of flag templates
I just seen your comment for me on the page, you want clarification, I'am not sure what you want me to provide, but for instance Template:Northern Ireland cities would you you regard that as proper use of a flag that has no status. There seems to be a overuse of flags on wikipedia, they add nothing to templates.--padraig3uk 10:38, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Padraig. I have no problem at all with removing the Ulster Banner from the Template:Northern Ireland cities or similar ones. There's no real need to have a flag in any of these templates, whether they relate to NI or other countries.
- But with ones like Template:British Isles or Template:UKFlags the flag should remain for consistancy/tidyness and my reasons given on the WikiProject Flag Template. Would that be anywhere near a comprimise you would be willing to accept? ie, on templates the Ulster Banner should be used only where other country's (eg England, Wales and Scotland's) flags are used. Stu ’Bout ye! 11:03, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- I have no problem with its use in Template:UKFlags as its used in its proper context, in the Template:British Isles I have a number of problems with the actual layout of that template, and besides that I don't think the use of the flag in that context is correct as it refers to the British Isles of today, so I think the flag should not be used. I have removed the Ulster Banner from templates on railways amongst others, Then you have the likes of this Template:Lists of Marilyns, some editors seem to love putting flags on everything.--padraig3uk 11:17, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Images & copyright
You might have noticed the message I got on my talk page about the Ian Adamson image. I had a look and found another image on a gov.uk page, and was wondering if you knew the score about copying an image from there and using it for WP. What's the policy regarding use of British govt images? As far as I remember, using American govt images is considered fair. Cheers. --Mal 11:34, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- Crown copyright images older than 50 years can be used freely. If they are not as old as that, you can use the {{crowncopyright}} tag, but you'll need a {{Fair use in|Article}} tag too. You'll also need to state the source. If you have these two tags, the source, and a rationale (eg (this image is being used for informational purposes ..... etc) then it should be alright. However it may, and I think probably will, be deemed replaceable. Tricky. Stu ’Bout ye! 11:56, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- And yes, most American government images seem to be free. Well NASA and military ones anyway. Stu ’Bout ye! 11:58, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- Cheers Stu. I'll consider replacing the Adamson picture then maybe. *shrugs* lol By the way...
The Original Barnstar
...I thought you deserved one of these:
The Original Barnstar | ||
I hereby award you this barnstar for your valuable contribution to, and creation of, many articles relating to Northern Ireland --Mal 12:50, 30 April 2007 (UTC) |
- Cheers Mal! Stu ’Bout ye! 13:15, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well its a long time in coming! I see you've snagged another one too. :)
- Question for you - did you upload the Orangemen photo? It was vandalised recently... though the original had been deleted before the newer, sectarian image was uploaded. OK - I got distracted mid-edit here. The admin who dealt with the abuse has explained where you got the image from. I guess I'll look through my hard drive to see if I ever captured pics of actual Orangemen instead of just bandsmen! --Mal 21:17, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Pit'chures
Stu you have taken and uploaded pictures for Wikipedia haven't you? I made a page for photographs and images specific to NI off the NI Wikiproject page, if you want to bother adding them to the page. Cheers. --Mal 14:30, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Once I get a decent digital camera I intend to start uploading my own, but most of the ones I've uploaded come from Flickr. Good work on the Northern Ireland tasks template, some shocking ommissions there. Will try and start some of those articles. Stu ’Bout ye! 14:35, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Your deletion of 2 articles
Big hullabaloo about notability? Well I have some news clippings here beside me about those two bands. What happened to your floated idea about making a flute band article ? Fluffy999 18:41, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
