Update

I have added some sourced info in an effort to expand this stub. I would like to raise the issue of Byzantine Empire cited in the lede. I cannot find any source that links it to the treaty. Upcoming Update

We are changing the article but all of the information in the current article will be in ours in different places and rephrased. We will talk about the background of the Carolingians and the Venetians as well as the historical significance of the Pactum Lotharii, and the lasting effect it has.
