Bangladesh Institute of Technology or BIT was a common name for four public engineering universities in Bangladesh. The universities were established in 1 July, 1986 by upgrading four public engineering colleges. The BITs were BIT, Chittagong in Chittagong, BIT, Rajshahi in Rajshahi, BIT, Khulna in Khulna and BIT, Dhaka in Gazipur. In 2003, the universities were renamed.
