History
York Acorn were formed in 1973 by Pete Warters and Tony Winn, with the Acorn name due to the club originally being based at the Acorn pub in York city centre.[1] The club moved to their current location at Thanet Road, Acomb in 1991, where they operate multiple pitches and changing rooms alongside the Acorn Sports & Social Club.[2]
Acorn were promoted to the National Conference League Premier Division in 2019 after a second place finish in Division One. In 2023, York Acorn recorded their best league finish to date in the summer league era, finishing in seventh place in the Premier Division.
In 2024, the club reached the fifth round of the Challenge Cup following victories against Orrell St James, Cornwall and Wath Brow Hornets.
