Illya Chichkan (* 1967 in Kiev, Ukraine). He lives and works in Berlin, Germany and Kiev, Ukraine. He is a representative of the "New Wave", painter, author of intallations, photo and video-projects.
Works and Reception
Illya Chichkan combined radicalism, shock-effect, and conceptualism, which exist only in visual-arts, and salon, glamour features typical for commercial advertising photo-sessions. The Ukrainian New Wave is a considerable group of artists, associated with this phenomenon. Their works were created in the 1990´s. Though the beginning of this new movement was born under "perestroika", when the USSR still existed.
