Your Reaper edits

[edit]

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in the case of the Reaper article, I've reverted your changes, and wanted to let you know why. In an article, we only wikilink the first use of a term, and in this case, General Atomics is already wikilinked earlier in the article. AKRadeckiSpeaketh 17:22, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I was not aware that only one wikilink is allowed.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Carstensen! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 6 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Brian Matthews (biochemist) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 08:07, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Radiometer (company) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Cntras (talk) 09:13, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Helle Thorning-Schmidt

[edit]

I appreciate your edits on the article. It can be confusing to see material removed without an edit comment or remarks on the talk page and sometimes it looks like careless editing or even vandalism. As far as how she would be formally addressed in folketinget, would it be simply as statsministeren or is there ever any honorific used? Other than using a formal form of address (De?). Thanks for your help on this article. I wonder (as a bit of humor) if under her new immigration policies I might be abe to return to my demonstrable roots "in the heaths of Jutland" as she said in her speech. Or I guess I might as well be from the ehem... mountains of Anatolia... Well at least she takes nice photographs. Thanks again. Obotlig (talk) 04:01, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for detecting and correcting the misspelling of Margrethe in the box. It had been changed to Margaret on 13 November without an edit comment. I have drawn the attention of the editor to his mistake in the hope that he will not make further edits of this kind. - Ipigott (talk) 08:21, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Gerard Kleywegt has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. DNA

[edit]

Yes, the DNA page may be vandalized, but with so many people watching the article, any vandalism will likely be reverted quickly. If there is persistent vandalism, it may always be re-protected. Neutralitytalk 06:02, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oligonucleotide Synthesis

Hello. I'm sorry for no summing up my edit, but I only corrected a typo in the phosphodiester synthesis section. I couldn't just leave it there :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by FluffTehKiller (talkcontribs) 15:53, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Haemoglobin

[edit]

I'm not sure I buy the argument that "hemoglobin" is somehow the "correct" spelling, at least not any more correct than "haemoglobin", but anyway, that's not the point. Your insistence on spelling it "hemoglobin" prevents the main image from showing, and misquotes various sources. The Placebo song, for instance, is called "Haemoglobin", not "Hemoglobin", as far as I can tell, and it must not be displayed otherwise. The same goes for journal articles with "haemoglobin" in their title (yes, they do occur). --Stemonitis (talk) 16:38, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comment on Steno

[edit]

Not sure why Steno can not be listed in the crystallography page. Because it is 200 years older than Bragg? Bragg developed a tool to study crystals. Great but he didn't discovered their nature.

Steno gave the first accurate observations on a type of crystal in his 1669 book "De solido intra solidum naturaliter contento". Sure he had no X-ray tools, no magic group theory, no microscope to prove his intuition. The wiki page crystallography lacks of any historical perspective on the subject: from Steno's law of constant angles, stating that the angles between corresponding faces on crystals are the same for all specimens of the same mineral to Hauy's law of the rationality of the crystallographic indices. Not a word on the Bravais lattice in the page. Hope this explains why I put Steno on the list. --Alberto Fernandez Fernandez (talk) 14:26, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PCA

[edit]

Hi - thanks for your edit to the Principal component analysis article. You undid my new section; I agree that we're both acting in good faith, and I have no wish to start a war, but I didn't create a section "just to cite" an article. Iterative methods for PCA are important for large or streamed data. I am currently trying to find out what the state of the art on iterative PCA is, and I will expand that section when I've found out more. I hope you understand, therefore, my motivation for reverting your deletion. All the best --mcld (talk) 14:49, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Leucine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page E641 (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Do you still have the code you used to generate the 5 way Venn diagram? I would like to know the center of the ellipsis; hence I'm asking. Thank you. Carstensen (talk) 11:00 am, 16 April 2013, Tuesday (1 month, 30 days ago) (UTC+1)

Hi, Carstensen. I've just seen your message as I'm notified when someone edits my user talk page but not my user page, so please drop me a message at my user talk page in the future. To answer your question, the code is in the SVG itself (that's the beauty of SVG). This is the relevant part:
<ellipse id="ellipse" cx="36" cy="-56" rx="160" ry="320" />
i.e. if the centre of rotation is at (0, 0), and ellipse A's major semi-axis is 320 and minor semi-axis is 160, its centre is at (36, -56). Hope that's useful! cmɢʟee୯ ͡° ̮د ͡° ੭ 23:36, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bruno Straub

[edit]

In November 2011 you added the following text to the article on Bruno Straub: "He proposed the theory of conformational selection in 1964." Someone (not me) added a tag Citation Needed to this statement. I have searched for a suitable reference, but I haven't found one, either for Straub B or Straub FB. Can you suggest one?
