Al-Jubeiha (الجبيهة) is a city district and one of the twenty-two areas in the Greater Amman Municipality of Jordan. Al-Jubeiha has seven neighbourhoods called Al-Jama'a, Al-Rasheed, Qurneh, Al-Sadiq, Al-Zaitounah, Al-Mahabah, and Al-Baladiyat.
Education
Jubeiha has several educational facilities, including the University of Jordan,[1] the Royal Scientific Society (which includes the German-Jordanian University, and the Princess Sumaya University for Technology[2]), and several schools, such as Jubeiha school and Al Jami'a schools group. It is also home to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.[3]
Lifestyle
The district of Jubeiha has a pedestrian area opposite the University of Jordan's North Gate. Major attractions include cafes and the University Mall.
The Jubeiha Amusement City was a landmark that distinguished the district and was the largest amusement park in the country. The amusement park was permanently closed in 2017 due to the deterioration of the rides and structures.[4] Plans were announced in 2018 to develop the site into a gated park with various facilities for families, youth, and the general populace.[5]
The area contains a red-light district that is commonly nicknamed "Talaini" (طلّعني) street, or "pick-me-up" street. Residents have engaged in various efforts to reduce the amount of prostitution there.[6][7]
Amman is the closest city with options for shopping, partying & many more cafes as well as restaurants.[8]
Geography
The district is located in western Amman, Jordan. Its coordinates are 32°1'59"N 35°51'45" E.
