In 1985, DuBose began the television aspect of his career on public access in Gardena, California. His program, called the Tyrone DuBose Show was based on interviews, serious topics, and everyday life. The show garnered 20 awards, including producer of the year, Best Informative, Best Talk Show, and programming excellence, among others. He ended his talk show in the year of 2001.

One Christmas, he was at someone’s home talking about the charts in the 70s, when someone told him he should “buy a book about the music charts”. He would study the position on the national charts and the idea of Timeless Traxx began. On the show, DuBose counts down the top R&B songs in America according to the National R&B Charts. It includes six decades of artist in one show based on their peak position. In addition to hosting the radio show, he researches and writes each show based on the history of the song, along with giving the date the song enters the charts. The show began to grow in popularity, and soon was heard on many radio and Internet stations throughout the country.

Early life

DuBose was born in Cincinnati Ohio, on May 4, 1960. He went to Hughes High School, where he received a ninth grade completed education. As a teenager, he was inspired by American top 40 and listening to Casey Kasem, where he loved not just the countdown of the music, but the stories in which Kasem spoke about of the life and history of the artist. He would listen for hours at a time until he reached the number one song in America. He would practice on his cassette player trying to emulate him.

On September 2nd 1989, the Mother of Tyrone DuBose, Berlena Wright, was found murdered in her home in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1996, Tyrone White was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. In 2003, his stepdaughter Chasity Jenkins was killed in a car accident. In 2011, DuBose was diagnosed with colon cancer, and survived. He has been a relentless champion for those who have suffered with cancer in any form. In 2013, he went back to complete his high school education, and graduated from Redondo Beach Union High School in Redondo Beach California in 2016.

In 2016, DuBose received the “Beautiful Soulz” Award along with other stars such as comedian Luenell and R&B singer Jon B from the Old Skool vs New Skool Foundation, along with the R &B Historian Award from the Radio Program Rare Grooves in Los Angeles California. In 2017, DuBose received the R&B Historian Of The Year and Motivational Speaker Award from the Citril Starz Group in Ontario California, along with a recognition of excellence from the FBI, for his contribution as a motivational speaker. In 2018, DuBose earned a Lifetime Achievement Award from the UView Media Group for his tremendous dedication and contributions to communities across the world, and R&B historian of the year from the BMA ( Black Music Awards) in Los Angeles, California. DuBose is also the recipient for awards such as “Outstanding Host” for his webisode series “Do You Know”, A double award winner of the GIRO award from WRLR Radio in Lake County Illinois, and “Best Voice Over” award from the Mayan Awards in Atlanta Georgia. Today, DuBose continues his contributions to the TV One program UNSUNG, in addition his radio program Timeless Traxx, and a daily contributor on Sheryl Underwood’s radio program. Currently, he’s working on a R&B series that will be a part of major music projects for Museum across the world.
