Tyrone DuBose (born May 4, 1960 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American Entertainer, Radio Personality, actor, voice artist, and television contributor. Best known as Americans premier R&B historian, his radio program, Timeless Traxx, countdowns the top R&B songs in America over the last six decades, according to the national R&B singles charts, and a show contributor on the television program, UNSUNG, on TV One.

DuBose is a five-time R&B Historian Winner including The Black Music Awards, and a lifetime achievement award from UVIEW Media Group in Los Angeles California. Today he continues his countdown program Timeless Traxx, his role as a show contributor on the popular TV One program UNSUNG, in addition, he is also a show contributor on Sheryl Underwood Radio show, the number one urban radio program in America. ^[1]

Biography

DuBose began the television aspect of his career on public access in Gardena, California in 1985. His program, called the Tyrone DuBose Show was based on interviews, serious topics, and everyday life. The show garnered 20 awards, including producer of the year, Best Informative, Best Talk Show, and programming excellence, among others. He ended his talk show in the year of 2001.

DuBose radio career began in 2003 at KHWY–FM in Barstow, California. While working full-time during the day, drove almost 150 miles to the radio station from Los Angeles every other weekend, to have an opportunity to be on the air. One Christmas, DuBose spoke about the music charts in the 70s, which prompt him to learn more. He studied the position on the national charts and the idea of Timeless Traxx began. On the show, DuBose counts down the top R&B songs in America according to the National R&B Charts. It includes six decades of artist in one show based on their peak position. In addition to hosting the radio show, he researches and writes each show based on the history of the song, along with giving the date the song enters the charts. The show began to grow in popularity, and soon was heard on many radio and Internet stations throughout the country.

Having a potent sonorous voice, DuBose vocals quickly became a famously familiar sound as he delivered the announcements for many events, phone auto-attendant for Fortune 500 companies and voiceovers for many national commercials.

An opportunity to host a red carpet event for award-winning producer Michael Ajakwe led to an unexpected meeting with the executive producer of the popular program from the TV one network called “UNSUNG”. DuBose became the show's contributor by sharing unknown facts and commentary about legendary artist such as Martha Wash, Kashif, Hi-Five, The Manhattans and others. DuBose's expertise allowed him to accurately share behind the scene facts about famous artist. DuBose earned the title of R&B Historian after proving to music lovers and music producers he possesses knowledge that many have either forgotten or never took the time to discover.

Tyrone break-out year for acting in live theatre was in 2016. What started out as him being a “known name “in a play eventually was the key component to reveal he is also a naturally gifted actor. Already equipped with the discipline of studying and remembering quality information, DuBose took the stage in various roles over the years, embodying, created personalities to tell a story. His ability to portray a loving husband, an angry former school teacher, a compassionate father, or a comedian, have all transcended into a different character when Tyrone embraces and personifies the role. A talent that is rare to come by.

In 2017, DuBose joined the highly successful Sheryl Underwood radio program as a daily contributor on “America’s R&B Historian,” with a segment called “A 60 Second moment in music history.” DuBose gives trivia, history, and chart information on musical artists from six different decades. Sheryl Underwood Radio is currently the number one urban radio affiliated program in America. He has also a part of the iHeart Program, “This Day in Quiztory”, a daily lesson on radio about the history of prominent African Americans.

Early life

DuBose was born in Cincinnati Ohio, on May 4, 1960. He went to Hughes High School, where he received a ninth grade completed education. As a teenager, he was inspired by American top 40 and listening to Casey Kasem, where he loved not just the countdown of the music, but the stories in which Kasem spoke about of the life and history of the artist. He would listen for hours at a time until he reached the number one song in America. He would practice on his cassette player trying to emulate him.

On September 2nd 1989, the Mother of Tyrone DuBose, Berlena Wright, was found murdered in her home in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1996, Tyrone White was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. In 2003, his stepdaughter Chasity Jenkins was killed in a car accident. In 2011, DuBose was diagnosed with colon cancer, and survived. He has been a relentless champion for those who have suffered with cancer in any form. In 2013, he went back to complete his high school education, and graduated from Redondo Beach Union High School in Redondo Beach California in 2016.

In 2016, DuBose received the “Beautiful Soulz” Award along with other stars such as comedian Luenell and R&B singer Jon B from the Old Skool vs New Skool Foundation, along with the R &B Historian Award from the Radio Program Rare Grooves in Los Angeles California. In 2017, DuBose received the R&B Historian Of The Year and Motivational Speaker Award from the Citril Starz Group in Ontario California, along with a recognition of excellence from the FBI, for his contribution as a motivational speaker. In 2018, DuBose earned a Lifetime Achievement Award from the UView Media Group for his tremendous dedication and contributions to communities across the world, and R&B historian of the year from the BMA ( Black Music Awards) in Los Angeles, California. DuBose is also the recipient for awards such as “Outstanding Host” for his webisode series “Do You Know”, A double award winner of the GIRO award from WRLR Radio in Lake County Illinois, and “Best Voice Over” award from the Mayan Awards in Atlanta Georgia. Today, DuBose continues his contributions to the TV One program UNSUNG, in addition his radio program Timeless Traxx, and a daily contributor on Sheryl Underwood’s radio program. Currently, he’s working on a R&B series that will be a part of major music projects for Museum across the world.
