Jonathan Chua (born February 13, 1990) is a Singapore-based, actor and singer. He is one of the members of Singaporean band The Sam Willows, arguably the most successful English music act in Singapore and the co-founder and creative director of Zendyll Records, and managing director of Zendyll Productions. He has been nominated twice for the MTV EMA for 'Best Southeast Asian Act' and won several music awards in Singapore and around the region. [1]

Career

Chua is a founding member of Singaporean band The Sam Willows, serving as the lead guitarist and vocalist.

As a Sony Music Artist, he has worked with some of the best music producers around the world, including Steve Lillywhite (U2,Rolling Stones) and Harry Sommerdahl (Pussycat Dolls, The Wanted). His compositions have gone on to earn many gold statuses and number 1s on radio and iTunes charts.[2]

Jon has a vast experience in the creation and selling of music to different demographics around the region. He has also directed and produced several video production works. He has been invited to guest judge at music competitions and lecture at creative workshops due to his knowledge of music and businesses surrounding it.[3]

In 2015, Jon started Zendyll Productions, a recording studio and sound design company in Singapore, with Evan Low[4], and in 2018, he launched Zendyll Records, a record label that is focused on artist & repertoire (A&R) creation, as well as creative production.[5]

Chua has been a brand ambassador for Audi, Hugo, Tag Heuer and Adidas.

Personal life

Chua was born and raised in Singapore. He attended Anglo-Chinese Junior College[6], and majored in Sociology[7] in Nanyang Technological University. He never had formal training in music and had picked it up on his own. [8]He got engaged to Astro SuperSport TV presenter Amanda Chaang in December 2017,[9] and they got married in late June 2018.[7] On 13 July 2019, they held a lavish wedding dinner at The Fullerton Bay Hotel with over 200 guests[10]. They own a Miniature Dachshund named Chilli. Chua cites Pharrell Williams as his role model.[5]
