Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – As per the recent edit war and the addition of poorly sourced contents in the violation of MOS:WTW. Thank you – . GSS (talk|c|em) 05:55, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:52, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Constant reversion . PRehse (talk) 11:02, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:29, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent unexplained content removal. Aisakano (talk) 12:26, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:29, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Since the death of Sudan, the last known male northern white rhinoceros, on March 19, erroneous and unsourced edits were relentless until the article was semi-protected. Since the semi-protection expired on March 23, straight-up vandalism has been running amok. AuH2ORepublican (talk) 14:24, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:23, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes protection: to prevent persistent vandalism by IPs to the page. Waddie96 (talk) 15:24, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:30, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. --Let There Be Sunshine 16:37, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: this page has been temporarily semi-protected in the past, however a lot of different IP users who are fanboys of certain players always wanted to lower the consensus requirement needed for the record so their favorite player can be on the list, and this has been a persisting problem ever since the creation of the page. So a lot of frequent contributors agreed recently that further action is needed to put this problem to an end, as the most recent case (109.252.80.112) has been warned repeatedly, both on the talk page and edit summary by multiple different editors including myself, to no avail. Or an alternative solution would be to ban this user, as there is already a warning for ban on the user's talk page, whichever one the admins deem fit. Fresternoch (talk) 16:46, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: One editor keep blanking star cast .. that has properly referenced. Yourmistake (talk) 17:09, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Someone vandalized the entire page. newroderick895 17:13, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – a severe edit warring was triggered by a ip user and he still ruins the page. newroderick895 17:16, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – again there is a ip going crazy and doing vandalism. newroderick895 17:19, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. lo prenu .katmakrofan. (talk) 17:40, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reduction in protection level: From temporary full protection to temporary semi-protection. (dispute solved; still IP vandalism; latest incidents not up-to-date => rework needed) Koranion (talk) 13:45, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done First off, as this page instructs, you should first ask Oshwah, the protecting sysop, before posting here. That being said, it was fully protected less than 12 hours ago because editors were edit warring, yourself included. I see no indication you or any other editors have attempted to discuss the dispute, on the talkpage or elsewhere. ~ Amory (utc) 16:19, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Amorymeltzer said here exactly what I would have also said - the article is fully protected due to being the subject of ongoing edit wars and content disputes. Full protection isn't meant to "make people take a break", sit around, and then resume where they left off as if nothing happened when it expies - it's designed to stop the disruption and to direct all users involved to discuss the issues and resolve them. No discussions or efforts to collaborate or resolve these disputes have occurred at all. Until this has been done and a consensus reached, the article will protection not be changed or removed early. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 16:25, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotection: I would like to create a redirect from this page to Battles involving the Maratha Empire#Battle of Udgir, but the page is currently salted. — Chevvin 16:24, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
