Plot

The script was shown among the 2006 Black List of unproduced scripts.[2] Alfred Molina, Robert DeNiro and Anthony Hopkins were previously attached as the dictator role.[3] On June 8, 2016, Michael Caine and Maisie Williams were announced as the lead stars of the film.[4] Principal photography on the film began on July 29, 2016 in Savannah, Georgia.[5] First photographs of Katie Holmes and Odeya Rush filming scenes for the film were published on E! News on July 31, 2016.[6] It was announced that the production had wrapped on October 27, 2016.[7]

Coup d'Etat held its first public screening at the 22nd Annual Nantucket Film Festival (where the original screenplay was presented as a staged reading in 2006).[8][9]
