Ruwanga Samath (born January 29th, 1985) is an American record producer and songwriter born in Sri Lanka. He is best known for his music in blockbuster movies such as Fast and Furious 5[1] and TED.
Biography
Early life
Ruwanga was born in Sri Lanka. His mother, "Renuka" was a popular Sri Lankan musician. Growing up, Ru was constantly around his mother's events and picked up her love for music. At a young age he started experimenting with the piano, drums, and several other instruments, and found great joy in composing his own music. Due to the country's unstable political atmosphere the family felt it was best to leave and moved to Pasadena, CA when Ru was 12. Ru attended Elliot Middle School and then John Muir High School for two years before moving to La Verne, California, and graduating from Bonita High School. After High School, Ru attended Cal State San Bernardino while continuing to work on his music. He found that demand for his music continued to grow and subsequently made the decision to leave school and focus full-time on his craft.

Ruwanga has written and produced end title songs for movies such as Fast and Furious 5 (Universal Pictures) Busta Rhymes, Don Omar and J. Doe called "How we Rol[2]l, Morgan Spurlock's The Greatest Movie Ever Sold (Sony Pictures) "CameraBuggin" features Big Boi from the legendary Outkast, as well as Matt & Kim[3], Gideon's Army (HBO)[4]. He has also placed songs in movies such as TED (Universal Pictures)[5], Spare Parts (Lionsgate), Tower Heist[6] (Universal Pictures), You're Next[7] (Lionsgate), Generation Iron[8], Saw IV (Lionsgate), Christmas in Compton[9], Son of Morning[10]. Ruwanga has also written and produced theme songs for several theme songs such as History Channel's "Mounted in Alaska"[11], TLC's Unleashed : K9[12], Lifetime's "Preacher's Daughters" Season 1 & 2[13], Playboy's "King of Clubs" & Hulu's "Mother Up![14]" His songs were also featuring in MTV's Jersey Shore and Battle Ground Earth : Ludacris vs Tommy Lee[15]
