The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is a highly selective United States national honor society for college students whose main motto is Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. The mission of NSCS is honoring and inspiring academic excellence and enganged citizenship for a lifetime. NSCS recognizes outstanding academic achievement and provides opportunities for members to enhance their collegiate experience.


Invitations for membership are extended to the most talented and ambitious first-and second-year college students. Members must rank in the top 20th percentile of their class and have a minimum GPA of 3.4 in order to join.


NSCS also partners with many outstanding organizations to provide members exclusive opportunities. Employer partners include Deloitte & Touche, Microsoft Corporation, Bank of America, Ernst & Young, Geico, New York Life, Accenture, Washington Mutual, Corporate Executive Board, Teach for America, Abbot Labs, Apex Systems, Eaton Corporation, Peace Corps, Quicken Loans, and Universum.


NSCS was founded in 1994 at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. by Steve Loflin. NSCS has active chapters at 226 colleges and universities nationwide, in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. All chapters are involved in service to their campus and local communitites, as well as scholastic and social activities. There are currently over 450,000 lifetime members across the country.
