As a middle-school and high-school librarian I am well-versed in basic research. Students use Wikipedia daily for topics from the arts to the sciences and I try to correct any errors they come across while we're working. I also enjoy helping kids ages 12 to 18 find free reading materials. Personally, I enjoy reading and researching a wide variety of topics.

I have found several articles on Wikipedia which are direct 'copy and paste' from other sources. If I am knowledgeable in the subject I have rewritten the entries in my own words. I'm afraid there are others I just didn't feel comfortable editing. Do to this issue, I would like to state for the record that everything I have written here is from verifiable sources and is in my own words.

I am participating in this crazy adventure; although, I admit I have little to no chance of winning. I am using it as a push to get myself working on all the things I want to see done and to find out all the things I need to learn...yeah, I'm still a newbie at many of the basics. Wish me luck!
Well, that was shorter than I thought. My goal was to learn how to successfully create each of the different types of scoring items. I got a few DYN's, then spent ''way too much'' time on trying to build a featured article. It's still not done, and I don't want to put it into the main space until I am confident it won't be a complete embarrassment. Did I learn something? Yes! Will I try again next year? Yes! Am I disappointed with my early exit? Well, yeah, but at least I have a low bar to compete against next year to get a personal best. ;)

Est omnino difficile iudicare inclusionis meritum cuiusdam rei in encyclopædia cum ratio sciendi quid populi referat incerta sit, sed nihilominus aliquid encyclopædiam dedecet
It is generally difficult to judge the worthiness of a particular topic for inclusion in an encyclopedia considering that there is no certain way to know what interests people, but some topics nevertheless are not fit for an encyclopedia.
This motto reflects the desire of these Wikipedians to be reluctant, but not entirely unwilling, to remove articles from Wikipedia.
