Bangladesh–Kyrgyzstan relations refers to the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan. Relations between the two countries have been identified as strong with both the countries willing to strengthen it further.[1]
Cooperation in education sector
The education sector has been recognised as a potential field for the bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyzstan has shown interest in providing scholarships to Bangladeshi students intending to pursue higher education.[2]
Cultural cooperation
Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan have identified cultural cooperation as an important way of expanding the bilateral ties. In 2014, an MoU was signed between the two countries to organize Culture Days of Kyrgyzstan in Bangladesh and vice versa Days of Culture of Bangladesh in Kyrgyzstan in 2015.[3]
Economic cooperation
Both Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan have shown deep interest to expand the bilateral economic activities between the two countries.[4] Bangladesh has shown interest in importing cotton in bulk from Kyrgyzstan to meet the growing demand of raw materials for its textile industry.[5] Besides, ready-made garments, pharmaceuticals, agricultural products have identified as potential sectors to increase the bilateral trade and investment.[6] Textile and jewelry industries have also been identified as promising sectors where the two countries can cooperate each other.[7]
In 2013, a Bangladeshi trade delegation led by former commerce secretary Mahbub Ahmed visited Kyrgyzstan to explore potential ways for increasing bilateral trade and investment.[8][9] The imposition of double taxation have been identified as a big hurdle in the expansion of bilateral trade.[10]
