:I edited the SPI to the standard template, which places it in the queue and lets the checkusers know exactly what IPs and users they should be looking at. To request protection, that is done at WP:RFPP. I can say that a sockpuppetry accusation against Nintendude64, in my estimation, is shaky. Not that there doesn't appear to be a concerted effort by IPs to push a agenda...but from what I can see (I am not a checkuser) its hard to make a connection that it clearly is Nintendude64. It could just as easily be unrelated, which is what I expect the checkuser report will be. Syrthiss (talk) 13:40, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
Hi Syrthiss, Sorry about replying this way. It seemed simplest option at the time (well, I'm upsidedown and clinging to the learning curve). Thank you for your kind welcome and advice. Yes: I would appreciate merging my two user IDs under John Collis. Password problem with the first, so I created second with hopes gaining access to fix it. Thanks again, John Collis John Collis (talk) 13:57, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Again, many thanks for your excellent help and guidance. I'll be trying hard not to be a pest. Cheers Syrthiss John Collis (talk) 14:06, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Dear Syrthiss,

A page I added of Dr. Gad Nassi, a notable researcher in the Turkish Jewry's heritage, was recently deleted by you. The reason for deletion was copyright violation, with http://www.gadnassi.com/biography/. Dr. Gad Nassi sent an email requested by Wikipedia (I hereby affirm that...) to the following email: permissions-en@wikimedia.org. In this email Dr. Nassi stated that he allows me to copy his biography from gadnassi.com - his official website. Please let me know to which email to send his approval in case you haven't received it, so I'll be able to upload the page again.

Best Regards, Alon Avraham (aloncpu)

Dear Mr. Avraham, that is indeed the proper email address. Thanks for your and Dr. Nassi's attention. Once the staff at the office review his email we can restore the article immediately, but I don't have any way myself to view those emails and I don't know how much of a queue there is to review. Hopefully we should have his article restored soon. In the meantime I will remove those warnings from your page. Regards, Syrthiss (talk) 22:00, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick response. Alon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aloncpu (talkcontribs) 22:06, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Syrthiss, Can I reload Gad Nassi information? Neither Dr. Nassi or myself received any feedback to the email mentioned above until today. Best Regards, Alon Avraham (aloncpu) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aloncpu (talkcontribs) 18:14, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :)

Thanks for moving the item from my user to my talk page :) Fiddle Faddle (talk) 20:06, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Hamptons International

Hello Syrthiss. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Hamptons International, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: It's not excessively spammy at all, and it's probably just about notable enough for A7 as well, mainly because of the number of offices and that it's a subsidiary of another notable company. Take to AfD if required. Thank you. GedUK  21:11, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion of Freaxxx

This article should not be speedy deleted as being about a musical recording that does not indicate its own importance and where the artist's article does not exist, because...

 • I am trying to expand Wikipedia with this article
 • Just because it is only 2 sentences, doesn't mean it has to be deleted
 • Many songs have their own articles

Jawadreventon (talk) 22:18, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't delete it. It still exists (hence why it is a bluelink in your sectio header). However, until such time as you can say more about it than 2 sentences or it becomes notable on its own, WP:NSONGS says that we redirect it to the artist. I felt that wasn't very useful to link it to the artist without knowing where it came from, so I redirected it to the soundtrack it came from where the artist is linked. Cheers. Syrthiss (talk) 22:32, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Despite looking at a sample of the user's edits, I managed to miss the spam links. Had I seen them I would certainly not have unblocked. I could simply reblock, or I could wait to see how the editor edits now, keeping a possible reblock in reserve. My inclination is to do the latter, but do you have any opinion? JamesBWatson (talk) 14:57, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yah, since they are unblocked now I'm willing to see how the progress. I certainly wouldn't reblock them immediately. Thx for the note! :) Syrthiss (talk) 14:59, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Thanks for your opinion. JamesBWatson (talk) 15:11, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(Belated) thanks

Thanks for reverting vandalism to my user page. --Nlu (talk) 15:31, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your input

Hello Syrthiss, your input and comments would be very much desired at User talk:Phenomer, as you were the blocking admin. Snowolf How can I help? 01:15, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for checking with me, but at the moment I'm dealing with a family medical issue and am not able to attend to wikipedia much. Please use your best judgement, and I have no objections ever to another admin reversing my actions especially if they feel that circumstances have changed. Thanks! I'm sorry, it looks like it resides on Wikipedia Commons, not here. In general, administrators on one of the wikipedia sites are not administrators on other wikipedia sites. You will have to request deletion there. Syrthiss (talk) 12:09, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: NetMovers

Hello Syrthiss. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of NetMovers, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article is not substantially the same as the deleted version. A new deletion discussion is required. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 19:43, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion: NetMovers

Hi Syrthiss,

I added new notible sources and I will be adding more. Any further advice would be benificial, thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Friskuk (talkcontribs) 17:08, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question:

... and I was out of the loop for a while. I noticed this, and was wondering which policy or guideline you were referring to. I'm familiar with the WP:DNTTR essay - is there another? ... or am I just being a pedantic pain in the rump? thx. — Ched :  ?  22:09, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dunno that there is anything specific. That is just one of the standard templates in twinkle. Essentially, my view of leaving a templated warning on someone's page where it doesn't apply is that one is being disruptive. Does that help? Syrthiss (talk) 22:22, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

striking through sockpuppet edits on AfD

It is obvious that the edits I am striking through are acts of sockpuppetry by someone trying to pad his side's !votes in the AfD. You will note that I have not even commented on the page so as to avoid appearance of !vote-stacking myself.

Striking sockpuppetry is valid. I have not changed their words and it is still legible, just marked for the sockpuppetry that it constitutes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.115.153.88 (talk) 12:41, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Nintendude64 is a redlink. Until it is no longer a redlink and a checkuser has confirmed your suspicions, I will continue to revert your edits as unsubstantiated. If you have proof, you should present it. Regards, Syrthiss (talk) 12:47, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Forward (generic name of socialist publications)

Sorry to ask but why did you revert my attempt to fix a nonsensical template on that page? SkepticAnonymous (talk) 12:51, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't. This shows that essentially you did the same fix that I did (the template change doesn't show in that diff). However, the IP that fucked up the template also seems to be intent that another editor is a sockmaster and deserves to have his edits struck (the section above, and all the changes in the diff with the <s> </s> bits. Do not restore the IP's edits, please. Syrthiss (talk) 12:55, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I myself am starting to think the same editor is a sockmaster based on edit history and extreme vitriol in his posts and those of several of the IP socks. If you would like I'll be happy to submit that page myself at this point. Having been subject to his personal attacks on the original talkpage and now here, it's quite rough. SkepticAnonymous (talk) 12:57, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please do, then. If you cannot create the sockpuppet investigation page, let me know and I can create it and let you fill in your evidence. Syrthiss (talk) 12:59, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try. I've never done one of these before. SkepticAnonymous (talk) 13:02, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if you wanted to do it informally - tell me here why you feel they are a sockmaster. If you can give specific instances that make you suspicious, and I agree, I can go craft the SPI myself. If I look and it doesn't look reasonable, I can tell you that as well. Syrthiss (talk) 13:05, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Created it. Take a look please, let me know? SkepticAnonymous (talk) 13:21, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
