Celeste Beryl Bonin (born October 7, 1986)[3] is an American model and professional wrestler, better known by her ring name Kaitlyn. She is working for WWE, where she is assigned to the SmackDown brand and also competes in their developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling.[2][4] She won the third season of NXT.[2][5]

Early life and career

Bonin made her body fitness debut in 2006, at the age of 19. In 2007, Bonin won the NPC John Sherman Classic Bodybuilding Figure and Fitness Championship,[1] and came fifth at the Arnold Classic. She also was in the top five at Musclemania Superbody in 2007. In 2008, she was named Miss November at the Hardfitness Calendar,[1] and placed 16th at the Junior Nationals that same year. In 2009 Bonin was chosen as 'Hottie of the Day' by Flex Magazine.

World Wrestling Entertainment / WWE

Florida Championship Wrestling (2010–present)

In July 2010, WWE signed Bonin to a developmental contract, and she reported to Florida Championship Wrestling, WWE's developmental territory.[1] She debuted under the ring name Celeste, competing in a bikini contest. Her name would soon be changed to Ricki Vaughn, however, she never would actually debut under the name as she would soon change it to her NXT name Kaitlyn. On the August 29, 2010 episode of FCW television, she would make her FCW TV debut as a lumberjill at ringside for a match between AJ Lee and Naomi Night. On the November 7, 2010 episode of FCW television, Kaitlyn and Naomi Knight defeated A.J. Lee and Aksana, debuting her finisher, the Atomic Wedgie Bomb.[6] On the January 16, 2011 episode of FCW television, Kaitlyn competed in a winning effort against then Queen of FCW Rosa Mendes after Kaitlyn executed a Reverse STO, which she named the Wedgie Flatliner.[7] On the August 7, 2011 episode of FCW television, she teamed up with A.J. and Caylee Turner defeating the team of Sonia, Aubrey Marie, and Raquel Diaz.[8]

NXT (2010)

Kaitlyn, NXT Season 3 Winner

On September 7, it was announced that Bonin would join season 3 of NXT, under the name Kaitlyn, with Vickie Guerrero as her storyline pro. She was the replacement for Guerrero's original rookie, Aloisia, whom Guerrero fired in storyline. That week, she unsuccessfully competed in both a dance competition (where she performed moves like the robot and running man) and a 'capture the flag' contest.[9] The following week, Kaitlyn made her in-ring debut, when she teamed up with Guerrero's on-screen boyfriend Dolph Ziggler to defeat A.J. and Primo in a mixed tag team match. She also won the obstacle course challenge.[10] On the September 21 episode of NXT, Kaitlyn and LayCool (Layla and Michelle McCool) lost to Kelly Kelly, Naomi, and Jamie in a six-Diva tag team match. Following the match, in which Kaitlyn was pinned, Lay-Cool attacked her while Guerrero berated her.[11] On that week's episode of SmackDown on September 24, Kaitlyn and Guerrero accompanied Ziggler to the ring for his match. When Guerrero ordered Kaitlyn to leave ringside, Kaitlyn pushed her over before leaving.[12] Kaitlyn won her first singles match against Guerrero on October 5, on NXT. On the November 2 episode of NXT, Kaitlyn and Ziggler were found kissing behind a wall. When Vickie confronted them, Kaitlyn threw a cake, which was meant for Goldust and Aksana's wedding, into her face.[13] On the November 5 episode of SmackDown!, Kaitlyn and Vickie faced each other in a rematch in which Vickie was victorious. On the November 30 episode of NXT, Kaitlyn was announced as the winner of season three, defeating Naomi in the final.[5] That same night, Ziggler was announced to be a pro for Season 4.

SmackDown (2010–present)

On the December 3 episode of SmackDown!, Kaitlyn appeared in a backstage segment with Guerrero and Ziggler, announcing that SmackDown! General Manager Theodore Long had signed her to the brand following her victory on NXT.[2][14] She made her in-ring debut on Raw in a diva battle royal to determine the 2010 Diva of the Year but she was the first diva to be eliminated. On the January 28, 2011 episode of Smackdown, she and Kelly Kelly were defeated by Team Lay-Cool.[15] Kaitlyn later lost in singles competition against Layla on the March 11 edition of Smackdown.[16]

She made her televised return on the May 2 edition of Monday Night Raw, when she was seen backstage with the other divas celebrating The Rock's birthday. She made her fourth in ring appearance, teaming with the debuting A.J. on a May 27 edition of Smackdown!. Kaitlyn and A.J. (who team as The Chickbusters, a play on The Dudebusters) were accompanied by Natalya and came in a losing effort to Alicia Fox and Tamina after she was pinned by Alicia.[17] Her losing streak continued the following week, as she and A.J, accompanied again by Natalya, lost a return match to Alicia Fox and Tamina, who were this time accompanied by Rosa Mendes, when A.J was pinned by Tamina.[18] On the June 13 edition of Raw, an All-Star special, Kaitlyn was victorious, in a 7 on 7 diva tag team match, teaming with Beth Phoenix, Gail Kim, Kelly Kelly, Natalya, A.J. and Eve Torres to defeat The Bella Twins, Melina, Alicia Fox, Rosa Mendes, Maryse and Tamina.[19] On June 23 edition of WWE Superstars, she teamed up with A.J. and Natalya in a rematch defeating Rosa Mendes, Alicia Fox, and Tamina.[20] The Chickbusters and Natalya returned to Raw on July 18 and were victorious in another 7 on 7 diva tag team match, with the same competitors as the All-Star Raw.[21] On the August 1 Raw, Kaitlyn was part of a battle royal to become the number one contender for the WWE Divas Championship at SummerSlam 2011, but failed to win the match by being eliminated by Tamina.[22]
