Lime v. limestone
Not sure exactly what the episode said, but CO2 scrubbers need lime (i.e., calcium oxide) to function. Limestone (i.e., calcium carbonate) is the product of the reaction between lime and CO2. Either this article needs to be edited (although I'm fairly sure Scott says he found the "lime"), or the show made an error (which should then be pointed out). - When limestone is heated, carbon dioxide is released to produce lime (CaCO3 -> CaO + CO2). Lime can then be "slaked" with water (CaO + H20 -> Ca(OH)2) if desired. CaO and Ca(OH)2 are both "alkaline" and either might be what is referred to in the episode. The red dye seen in the test likely represents (and may actually be) phenolphthalein, the idea being that they add their prospective alkaline substance to water, then see how much acid can be added to the container without turning this pH indicator dye red.
- That said, like in the last episode a less lethal solution existed, even if there is no way to transmit air by Stargate, since gypsum can be melted (1460 C) and electrolyzed to produce calcium metal. Wnt (talk) 17:10, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Final song in part 3
The final song of part 3 is "Breathe" performed by Alexi Murdoch.[1] ==> Don't know where to put that. So for now I put it there. Greenski (talk) 21:58, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
