The UAAP Football started with the Three-Peat UAAP Men's Football and Venus host Ateneo de Manila University playing against 2004 Men's Football Finalist and neighbor University of the Philippines. The event was opened with banners of brotherhood, camaraderie and friendship for all teams as UAAP Football tries to promote the sport in the Philippines. Last year's Champion in Men's Football is University of Santo Tomas while in the Women's, the Green Booters of Far Eastern University won last year's championship. This year marks the start of high school football as UAAP started its first ever UAAP Juniors Football as a demonstration sport which includes Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle Santiago Zobel, Far Eastern University - FERN and University of Santo Tomas.
