Wazir Ram Singh Pathania came to limelight between the period of First Anglo-Sikh War and Second Anglo-Sikh War (1845-1849), along with the heir of Nurpur kingdom reasserted themselves in an armed struggle against the new rulers EIC but in the end their leader Wazir Ram Singh was handed over to British after being betrayed at Fort Lakhanpur by neighboring kingdom of Jammu in 1859, he was initially assigned to Allahabad before being transferred to Calcutta and in 1850 along with Bhai Maharaj Singh to Singapore on the hired ship Mohammad Shah.

Memorial
- On 8th October 2024 H.P Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated golden statue of Wazir Ram Singh on a horse outside Nurpur fort. [2]
- Every year on August 17, a festival honouring him is held in Dhauladhar, near Shahpurkandi, Pathankot, where the sword and armour of the lionheart, Ram Singh Pathania, are on display.[3]
