Vandalism part 34

Serge's 34th iteration of his own personal WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. Feel free to report anything you feel may need admin intervention. Sergecross73 msg me 00:34, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Here is one citation for the change I made: https://www.reddit.com/r/Starset/comments/1cixg4m/metalcore_starset_album/. There are multiple more citations. It is not vandalism. Do you have expertise in this band or music or why was this reversed? There was no justification. 173.59.8.222 (talk) 02:50, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Reddit posts are not usable sources on Wikipedia per WP:USERG. Sergecross73 msg me 02:52, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, based on the editing patterns, I'm wondering if @125.160.112.170 might actually be blocked editor @JustYourImaginaryGuy. Not sure how to report this; I noticed you dealt with the latter editor before. RegalZ8790 (talk) 05:12, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I've blocked. Feel free to report incidents like this to me, and if I agree, I'll issue blocks or page protection as needed. Thank you! Sergecross73 msg me 13:44, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I figured this was okay, just wanted confirmation. Anyway, he's at it again, now with @125.160.115.29... RegalZ8790 (talk) 01:19, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked. Sergecross73 msg me 16:40, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sergecross73 Back for another round as @125.160.113.185. What can be done with an individual who has no intentions of respecting Wikipedia and its community? RegalZ8790 (talk) 06:10, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like someone else hit him with a WP:RANGEBLOCK. Hopefully that helps. Sergecross73 msg me 17:54, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, This user keeps reverting my changes saying they are vandalism. This IP traces back to the subject of the edits who has been using wikipedia to promote his own name, articles, and videos. He doesn't cite his work, he simply pastes it into other articles.

He has done this on the USNVGT page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_vs_Snakeand several others. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/35.135.179.48

Surely this is against the terms. Thank you for looking into this. datagod (talk) 🍁 22:21, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding/restoring info without a source is definitely against policy. I don't know enough about these subjects to know who is correct in some of the disputes, nor am I following the accusations of self-promotion, but I'll warn them about the sourcing issues. Joe Henson

Is it just me, or does Joe Henson (video game designer) read like a paid editor wrote it? Stuff like "Henson's entry into the gaming industry was driven by his passion for video games" sounds like it comes directly from a vanity Who's Who book. And he was "nominated for Community Manager of the Year at the Social Media Marketing Awards UK". I mean, who has ever heard of this? It gets 9 hits on Google, and one of them is Joe Henson's resume on LinkedIn. That said, I guess I'm curious what other people think because I don't want to do a paid editing block without evidence, and I'm not sure these edits are really overt enough t call the creator a promo-only account. Was hoping maybe you, ferret, or some other talk page watcher could give their two cents. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 02:02, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely reads promotional. Lot of interviews and passing mention sources. Emailing you. Account is definitely coi/promo, but not paid. -- ferret (talk) 03:11, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Did you guys take care of this with your CU powers or would you still like me to look into this? (Sorry for the delay, been a crazy week.) Sergecross73 msg me 17:19, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Music art

Hi again. I hope you're doing well. Again, since you work in the area, could you tell me what cover we prefer in infoboxes? I've thought about it as if a song or album has two different covers, digital and cd, the cd would be placed before, and though discouraged if an alternative cover is added, digital should be there. And if both are the same and there exists a third edition, like the first press or limited edition, the standard always goes first. Is my stance on this incorrect? Lunar-akauntotalk 06:49, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't usually work with images much, but my understanding is that the more recognizable and representative image should be used, and alternate covers generally shouldn't be unless there's something particularly noteworthy about them. Multiple images should really only be used if there's a noteworthy point of discussion about it. For example, if cover art was changed/altered because of violent or sexual imagery. Sergecross73 msg me 17:18, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I have seen that western artists almost never have differing digital and physical cover arts, while Chinese or Japanese artists often tend to do so. So, if we're playing safe and only including one cover art, what do we pick then? If we go with digital only (probably the more recognisable among both worldwide but might differ case to case for the native country), it just doesn't feel right to skip the physical one. I mean, the cover wouldn't confuse the reader, right? Lunar-akauntotalk 02:33, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really have anything more to add beyond what I already said - go with the more recognizable one. WP:IUP is pretty clear that we need to be using copyrighted images sparingly. Sergecross73 msg me 02:48, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. Lunar-akauntotalk 03:07, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello from Wisconsin

hey I just wanted to get ahold of you about your description of Static-X. Static-X did not originate in Los Angeles they originated in Plainfield Wisconsin. I'm sure you probably know this but they have an album called Wisconsin death trip... Not trying to be rude or anything just stating the facts bud. Have a nice day/night ☺️🤘 206.176.212.58 (talk) 04:47, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. My understanding is that, like is common with musicians first starting off, they lived in a number of various places, but when they had actually formed Static x, it was in California. Feel free to provide a reliable source that says Wisconsin though and it can be reconsidered. (Reliable source, on Wikipedia terms, would be a mainstream magazine or website. Many usable examples are listed WP:RSMUSIC.) Sergecross73 msg me 10:32, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

assistance with Lumines: Puzzle Fusion

occasionally, there are a few anonymous editors that come in and just alter the dates of the article. They are sometimes very aggressive about it. But I can't seem to keep up with their edits. This isn't good because my goal is to get the article to Featured as soon as I can. what can I do?Blue Pumpkin Pie (talk) 12:56, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I temporarily protected the page. I'd start a talk page asking if anyone has a sources for these alternative release dates. If no one gives any response/sources, I'd just disregard them.
