Jimmy Carter was in the class of 1947 at the Naval Academy. My father was in the same class and I have the original yearbook with Jimmy Carter's entry on page 176 of "1947 Lucky Bag." There were 821 (not 820) total United States Naval Academy graduates for the graduating class of 1947. What is deceiving here is that the class graduated in June of 1946 because the Navy had gone to an accelerated 3 year program to speed the officers available for the war effort. |

Jimmy Carter Class of 1947.
What is deceiving here is that the class graduated in June of 1946 because the Navy had gone to an accelerated 3 year program to speed the officers available for the war effort. https://www.history.navy.mil/browse-by-topic/heritage/naval-academy/usna-wwii.html
Here is a Washington Post Article about the class's 50th Reunion. [1]https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/1996/06/05/the-class-of-the-naval-academy-has-50th-reunion/1631f2ba-b06e-4fe4-9968-1c39efb7d6bc/
