== Dunnet edit ==

Hello,

I would like to discuss your deletion of the "official page" of Dunnet. Your comment was that it is "not" an official page. On what do you base this opinion?
This page was added after considerable debate on whether or not Dunnet is WP:NOTABLE (which it was determined it was). One of the people heavily involved in the debate
decided that this was indeed an official page. I am the author of Dunnet, and maintain the page. I do not edit the Dunnet Wikipedia page, due to WP:COI. However, I had
assumed your edit was vandalism.

Thanks,
Ron [[User:Aviators99|Ron Schnell]] 00:20, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

: Hi [[User:Aviators99|Ron]],
: first of all, thanks for ''Dunnet''!
: a [[website]] is characterized by a domain name. The website you linked is www.driver-aces.com. It doesn't meet the requirements specified in [[WP:EXT]] in so far as it doesn't deal with the article topic. The specific link isn't even the website, but a [[URL#Syntax|path]] containing a [[URI fragment]] linking to two questions as part of an "interview" you did with yourself, and those two questions on a subpage of a website are not what we want in the "External links" section.
: If you're asking me: ''Dunnet'' deserves an official website. Dunnet.org is free, for example. Also, nobody would object against e.g. RonSchnell.com/dunnet being listed under "external links".
: Kind regards, [[User talk:Grueslayer|<span style="text-shadow: .2em .2em .2em #c5C3e3; font-family: Georgia; font-variant: small-caps; color: black">Grueslayer</span>]] 06:09, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

:: Thanks for the response. So you're saying that the form of the URL has some relevance as to whether or not it is acceptable? That is surprising to me. Why is "RonSchnell.com"
:: okay, while "driver-aces.com" is not? They are really the same, as far as I'm concerned. Having said that, I have no problem registering a new domain just for the
:: purposes of conforming. Would you have an issue if it redirected to the same place? Considering this website has been around as somewhere people go to fing out
:: about Dunnet for almost 30 years, it wouldn't make sense to me to change it now. [[User:Aviators99|Ron Schnell]] 04:22, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

::: Hi [[User:Aviators99|Ron Schnell]],
::: sorry for getting back to you so late, I had a bit too much on my desk.
::: To show a positive example of what's meant in [[WP:EXT]]: ''[[Thaumistry: In Charm's Way]]'', a modern text adventure. That one ''has'' an official website: [https://www.thaumistry.com/ www.thaumistry.com]. A URL dedicated to the lemma, and its content is about the lemma only. Is the difference between that site and "<nowiki>http://www.driver-aces.com/ronnie.html#dunnet</nowiki>" graspable?
::: Kind regards, [[User talk:Grueslayer|<span style="text-shadow: .2em .2em .2em #c5C3e3; font-family: Georgia; font-variant: small-caps; color: black">Grueslayer</span>]] 05:48, 18 November 2021 (UTC)

:::: Hi [[User:Grueslayer|Grueslayer]],
:::: No worries. We all get busy. Obviously I know the difference between the two URLs. I think I made that clear. I even said I have no problem registering a domain name to accommodate your feelings on the subject, although I disagree. Dunnet is obviously not a *modern* text adventure!
:::: In any case, what I asked in the previous message is whether you would be okay if the new domain redirected to the existing page, to accommodate the 30+ years of search engine rankings, etc.
:::: Thanks! [[User:Aviators99|Ron Schnell]] 06:22, 18 November 2021 (UTC)

Why are you afraid for independent sources? I know that related sources are permitted by the WikiProject (against WP:RS) but there is nothing illegal about asking for better sources then allowed! The Banner talk 15:20, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A typical wording for "asking for better sources" would be something like "If available, please use up-to-date secondary sources", NOT "use only independent sources". Also, we do not provide research instructions in the article source code. If you feel that this specific article needs a specific research approach different from that of all other articles, please use the talk page. Kind regards, Grueslayer 15:28, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ow, now you are coming with threats? I am shaking in my boots... (not so much in fact). But filing a case may be backfiring. The Banner talk 12:03, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Help improvements. Thanks you. Mdnys (talk) 06:15, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

presentation college chaguanas

Hi, New to this wiki edits. I am part of the alumni for Pres Chag. I now realised that you asked the relevance. They asked me to update the page and put some content. I thought the Scholarship list would be good content. Also our motto is wrong. I believe the catergories are relevant. Let me know. First time im using wiki as an editor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doctorkamta (talkcontribs) 15:13, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Doctorkamta,
none of the scholarship winners listed is eligible for an own article so a list of scholarship winners is not notable. If any scholarship winner is notable the list should consist of the notoable persons only.
What would help the article is more details in the history section and historical photos. Please note that all information (but trivial one) must come with reliable sources. That can be newspaper articles so if you have the possibility to deep-dive into the archives of the Express, Guardian or Newsday that could help a LOT. Online links and book references are fine as well. If you need help with anything, let me know. Also I have a little bit of literature gathering dust here so if you think any of that could help, let me know.
Kind regards, Grueslayer 21:47, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ok i think i understand. So no scholarship list, only proper notable alumni? What about Jack Warner , Ganga SIngh , Prakash Ramadhar , Manohar Ramsaran ? if i have to put these or other under notable alumni, i am required to have found some article in the news papers written about them? What about past principals? I saw some other high schools have a list of past principals. Does historical pictures include that of past staff  ? or just building pictures. I tried to add the logo, but wikipedia didn't allow it. Its a logo we use for school events and a regular logo. No copyrights to it. NOt sure why it wasn't accepted. I at least want to get the logo up . We had a few complaints that our wiki are bones compared to other schools like hillview , presentation college san fernando etc. So i am just trying to help make it better Doctorkamta (talk) 12:33, 19 January 2022 (UTC)doctorkamtaDoctorkamta (talk) 12:33, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Doctorkamta,
a list of notable alumni is very welcome! Jack Warner has an article so he's notable. Ganga Singh has no article but he's notable (so it's sag he doesn't have an article yet, like many others...). Just briefly check what position people held - former ministers are automatically notable for example.
As for the logo, I suppose you mean this one? Well, there was a less complex version like e.g. the single-coloured one on this ring I assume that should work. For U.S. products there's always the fair use principle. Do you know if TT has a fair use doctrine as well?
As for historical pictures, pretty much everything is welcome. But the copyright is a problem if you don't know what you're doing - you can't simply upload pictures you e.g. find somewhere on the web.

Hello Again Grueslayer,

First of all, thanks for the assistance. Secondly, how do I reply to your messages? I just click edit post and do it like that. That is a good logo to use. I will go ahead and try to use that logo. Also is it safe to say I can go ahead and add the past ministers and past principals (like other schools have been able to? If so i'll do those first. Lastly i'll look into the fair use doctrine. Regards,talk — Preceding undated comment added 13:08, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Doctorkamta,
  • Replying: Just click "edit" and add your reply under my last one. A colon at the beginning of a line indents the text, several colons indent it further.
  • Regarding the logo, it would have to be uploaded either here (button "upload file" in the menu on the left side) or on Commons. The difference is that files on Commons can be used by all the different Wikipedias (that is, in all languages). The upload process may be a bit confusing for quite some questions are being asked - that is so because otherwise people would simply upload copyrighted pictures they found on the internet. Logos are also copyrighted, but very simple ones are not. The "fair use" doctrine additionally allows to use one low-resolution picture to illustrate an important aspect of an article that could otherwise not be illustrated. If that applies to a logo - I'm actually not sure.
  • Ministers and prinicipals: I do not see how the reader benefits from the information unless the persons have articles on their own (or should have them). Like, if you read an article about a school in Argentina, what insights do you get when you read that from 1978-1981 a person named "Manuel Gonzales" was the principal? But it's not forbidden to include institution leaders in an article, so if you must, go ahead.

Lars Mittank

It appears that I accidentally copied the wrong part of the article into my edit summary. What I wanted to copy reads: "A construction worker entered the room. (The terminal was being refurbished.) Mittank started to tremble." Display name 99 (talk) 12:58, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Display name 99,
I had read that source. What you made out of this information is that a construction worker entered the room because the terminal was being refurnished. That is not supported by that source or any other. The reason why a construction worker entered the room remains unknown. Probably it doesn't matter much, but semantically that's two different things.
Kind regards, Grueslayer 15:07, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have adjusted the language in the article. Thank you. Display name 99 (talk) 15:15, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Okay look at their banned film list on Zack and Miri Make a Porno i ll checked.

Okay look at their banned film list on Zack and Miri Make a Porno i ll checked. So i checked and it was banned in Trinidad and Tobago, Grueslayer. Mr. G. Price (talk) 20:19, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mr. G. Price,
can you please rephrase that? I have no idea what you're trying to tell me. What I see when checking the movie article is that the key words "banned" and "Trinidad and Tobago" don't appear. You can't categorize an article by something that's not even mentioned in the article.
Kind regards, Grueslayer 20:39, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Is on the list for List of banned films on wikipedia Zack and Miri for Trindad and Tobago, i know is on the list tape down List of banned films on Wikipedia check for Trinidad and Tobago and you'll find it Mr. G. Price (talk) 20:42, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Mr. G. Price,
it would maybe be helpful if you used your native language and I use Google Translate to understand what you're up to. I think you might be referring to the List of banned films because that's the only place where the movie is listed in connection with TT. I have corrected that; "the censors" (actually the Board of Film Censors of Trinidad & Tobago) do not "ban" films but provide age ratings (https://ttfilmfestival.com/film-censor-ratings).

Edits: Graphic Adventure Games

Greetings, Grueslayer.

I am a new contributor to Wikipedia and my first edits were dedicated to the page titled above, so I apologize for some of my changes being redundant. Regarding your recent edits in the respective page: Omikron: The Nomad Soul is truly listed as an adventure game despite me placing it into the action-adventure genre, so I am fine with it remaining on the list (same with the game Piposh, as I did not value it as a notable game without secound thought).

On the other part, Lula 3D and Riana Rouge are works with "universally" negative reception, whose average critical scores reach as low as 2/10 and 3/10 , so I would reconsider having them on the page even if those titles have received some form of recognition. I see you undid those last changes so I won't remove the titles anew without further discussion. Let me know your opinion, and thank you for your interest. Sapientia Obscura (talk) 15:23, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Moin Sapientia Obscura,
Wikipedia is not meant to be a collection of "recommendable" things. All things notable are collected here, even the dregs of the trash - if there's enough echo in books, (online) magazines, "the media". The existence of an article is a first indication that something is notable, and notable things may and should be listed in lists.
