The 2018 Beni ambush was an armed assault carried out by militants from the Allied Democratic Forces insurgent group on a joint UN-FARDC anti-insurgent contingent patrolling the area of Kididiwe, near the Congolese city of Beni. The ambush left eight UN peacekeepers and 12 Congolese soldiers dead and 10 UN peacekeepers wounded.[3] It was the deadliest attack on UN forces in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since the 2017 Semuliki attack 11 months earlier.[4]

On November 14, 2018, a joint UN-Congolese anti-insurgent operation in Kididiwe, 12 miles outside of the city of Beni, came under assault from a large number of Allied Democratic Forces militants as they tried to secure an area
