The 2018 Beni ambush was an armed assault carried out by militants from the Allied Democratic Forces insurgent group on a joint UN-FARDC anti-insurgent contingent patrolling the area of Kididiwe, near the Congolese city of Beni. The ambush left eight UN peacekeepers and 12 Congolese soldiers dead and 10 UN peacekeepers wounded.[3] It was the deadliest attack on UN forces in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since the 2017 Semuliki attack 11 months earlier.[4]
