Zeitgeist ((audio)) is the official sixth album (excluding the freely internet-distributed Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music) by The Smashing Pumpkins. It will be the first album to be released by the band since they reunited in 2006. The album is produced by Roy Thomas Baker. Pitchfork Media reported that the album is set to be released on July 7, 2007.[1] It will be the band's first release on Reprise Records.[2]

In early December, four alleged demos from the sessions were released on file-sharing networks. They were quickly revealed to be a hoax. Spin later reported that they were recordings by British band Amy Blue.[3]
