Destination Fear was an American documentary paranormal television series that premiered on October 26, 2019, in the United States on Travel Channel.[1][2][3] The series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on April 29, 2020,[4] with a mid-season premiere on October 24, 2020, on Travel Channel. On February 18, 2021, the cast officially announced a third and final season, which premiered on July 24, 2021, on Travel Channel and Discovery+. On October 11, 2021, Dakota Laden confirmed via Twitter that the final two episode locations of season 3 were filmed in Ireland, and a week later Discovery+ announced the remaining episodes of season 3, which aired from November 6 to December 25, 2021, on Travel Channel and Discovery+.[5]
Summary
Destination Fear was based on the 2016 documentary “Trail to Terror” produced by The Laden's and Tanner Wiseman. The documentary is about capturing what true fear looks like while spending five consecutive nights in haunted places, which was shown in Theatres at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota on October 29, 2016.[6]
Destination Fear was a similarly themed documentary featuring paranormal investigator and documentary filmmaker Dakota Laden and his team of paranormal enthusiasts, including his sister, Chelsea Laden, and friends Tanner Wiseman and Alex Schroeder. The team takes to the road in an RV, visiting a number of reportedly haunted and paranormal hotspots across the United States testing the limits of human fear.
”We’re not hunting ghosts, we’re hanging out with them.”[7]
The cast takes a new approach to the paranormal with participants sleeping solo overnight at each haunted location and recording their experiences. The show sets out to portray real-life events and the psychological impacts these paranormal hauntings have on each member of the team.[1][2][8]
