Wikipedia:Requests for history merge

This page is used for listing requests for history merges or history splitting of pages. For relatively simple cases where history merge is required, the destination page should be tagged with the {{histmerge}} template. This page should be used for requesting very complex merges, merges involving more than two pages, history merges of deleted pages, or when the use of the template is otherwise inadequate or where its usage would cause problems.

This page was originally for listing cut-and-paste moves which could not be repaired due to a then-extant technical limitation. The limitation has since been removed, but this page is still available if you find a cut-and-paste move, and are not able to repair it yourself (there is a procedure for doing it, but only administrators can do it, and it is a bit tricky!).

Administrators need to read Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Fixing cut-and-paste moves and Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions.

The procedure

• If the issue is clear-cut (straight-forward cut-and-paste move(s) to a different title), place a {{histmerge|NAME OF PAGE THE ARTICLE WAS CUT FROM}} template at the new location of the article which has been moved through cut and pasting, i.e. on the article where the pasting was done.
• In more complex cases (explained at Wikipedia:How to fix cut-and-paste moves), please leave a description of the problem under the "Repair requests" section. An administrator will look over the pages and perform whatever tasks are necessary and update the request.
• Tasks that have been completed or do not need further discussion will be removed.

    • I also do not understand what you would like me/us to do. What do you mean by both pages "need to be glued back together"? In my case, Amausi Airport is already "glued" with Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport, since the former redirects to the latter. -- Denis.arnaud (talk) 14:04, 26 December 2021 (UTC)

• (Requesting histmerge of the deleted version of Draft:Pir Alauddin Siddiqui with the current version. Background: the draft had been declined, and the draft creator tagged it for deletion and immediately created it in mainspace, instead of submitting it for review again. I have draftified it. (They had moved it to mainspace / created mainspace versions several times, so Draft:Pir Alauddin Siddiqui (1) and Draft:Pir Alauddin Siddiqui (2) also existed, and were tagged for deletion by the same editor at the same time. I don't actually know which version of the draft was copied into mainspace, but I don't think it is worth sinking too much time into investigating that.)  Done Anthony Appleyard (talk) 01:32, 26 December 2021 (UTC) )

• A new editor executed multiple copy-paste page moves with his article: Draft:Washington Heights Elementary School was first copy-paste moved to Washington Heights Elementary, which was then subsequently copy-paste moved to Washington Heights Elementary School. •  Done Please reconstruct Particulate pollution from Pollution and Particles and Particles and Pollution. The established page Particulate pollution was moved to Particles and Pollution. It then seems to have been copy-pasted over the redirect at Particulate pollution and improved with additions before moving to Pollution and Particles. We probably need one article called Particulate pollution, combining all but the latest revisions of Particles and Pollution with the latest revision(s) of Pollution and Particles.
