Premiership season
Round 1 (Season Launch)
- Richmond v Carlton will be the third consecutive AFL season opener. It is also the fourth consecutive year the sides have played each other in the opening round.
- AFL Premiers Geelong will start their title defence against Essendon after the AFL decided to stop the Grand Final Rematch in Round 1.
- Brisbane Lions and West Coast will be Brendan Fevola's 1st match with his new club.
- Western Bulldogs v Collingwood will be Brad Johnson's 350th Match.
