Jet2.com (Airline Code: LS) is a low-cost carrier airline based in the United Kingdom. Operations started in February 2003 from its base at Leeds-Bradford Airport in Yorkshire, England. For 2004-05 it expects to have 9 Boeing 737-300 aircraft based there flying to 14 destinations. Jet2.com established a second base in Manchester in December 2004, with a secondary hub at Belfast International Airport in Northern Ireland. It employs about 250 people.
Services
As well as a shuttle service between Leeds-Bradford and Belfast, they operate direct flights from Belfast to Prague, Barcelona and Bournemouth. Plans for flights from Belfast to Cork were abandoned in February 2005 due to poor forward bookings. Services also operate from Leeds to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Faro in the Algarve, Portugal, Prague, Geneva in Switzerland, Venice in Italy, Nice and Paris in France, and the Spanish cities of Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga, Murcia, and Palma de Mallorca.
In 2005 Jet2.com began operating flights from Manchester to London Gatwick Airport in competition with British Airways.
Jet2.com is operated by Channel Express (Air Services) a long standing cargo airline which expanded into charter operations in 2001, before launching scheduled services under the Jet2.com banner in February 2003.
Unlike many other low cost carriers, Jet2.com tend to use principal airports such as Marco Polo International Airport in Venice and Charles de Gaulle International Airport in Paris. Like other low-cost carriers, tickets may only be booked over the internet or by telephone. Seats are allocated at check in, on a first come first served basis.
