Orchard Boulevard station in Singapore

Orchard Boulevard MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit station on the Thomson–East Coast Line (TEL) situated at the boundary of River Valley and Orchard planning areas, Singapore. It is located on the corner of Orchard Boulevard (hence the name) and Grange Road, near Camden Medical Centre, Singapore Tourism Board headquarters in Singapore Tourism Court and JEN Singapore Tanglin by Shangri-La Hotel.[2]

History

This station was first announced on 29 August 2012.[3]

On 15 August 2014, LTA announced that Orchard Boulevard station would be part of the proposed Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL). The station would be constructed as part of Phase 3, consisting of 13 stations between Mount Pleasant and Gardens by the Bay, and was expected to be completed in June 2022.[4][5]

Contract T218 for the design and construction of Orchard Boulevard Station was awarded to KTC Civil Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd at a sum of S$143 million in May 2014. Construction started in 2014.[6] On 9 March 2022, Transport Minister S Iswaran announced in Parliament that TEL 3 would open in the second half of that year.[7]

As announced during a visit by Transport Minister S. Iswaran at the Outram Park and Maxwell stations on 7 October 2022, the TEL station began operations on 13 November.[8][9][10][11]
