:::One thing I'm unsure of is Mary's father's name; the article had "Arthur/John Woffington"; I read the slash as denoting uncertainty about the first name so I've left "Arthur or John Woffington" in the article, though it might be "Arthur John Woffington" with the slash being a typo. Anyway' I'm sure you'll correct it! :) Cheers, <span style="color:#191960">Baffle☿gab</span> 02:49, 11 November 2023 (UTC) |

Thank you for supporting the NPP initiative to improve WMF support of the Page Curation tools. Another way you can help is by voting in the Board of Trustees election. The next Board composition might be giving attention to software development. The election closes on 6 September at 23:59 UTC. Why did you revert my edit of adding a 'Criticism' section? I feel that it should be separate so that people can distinguish and read it easily. Currently, it's embedded in other sections. Gsgdd (talk) 09:41, 11 November 2023 (UTC) |

:Liz, Oh yeah that one is really awful, but there is still value in having the raw original content for the valuable little gold nuggets in the pile of dung. It is helpful to keep some details in memory; obviously most details in the draft, such as him being "the only uncircumcised boy in his class", are completely useless trivia for our purposes, but I find it immensely valuable that the original author wrote specific offices and specific dates he held those offices. Thus, instead of starting from scratch, this gives a baseline of content to start with; as the author had to have gotten this information from somewhere, it makes it easier to search for the specific sources needed, such as election results or honing in on new biographical data. Sure enough, by selecting specific keywords based on the OG draft, I was able to come across this biographical entry; if I can determine if this book is reliable, then I think I can stretch this to be start-class; if not for discovering that source, it would likely be a 2 sentence stub. |
|||
:Additionally, though I create the articles in mainspace under my own name because I write them from scratch, I do like to redirect these original draft versions to my version of the article to show where the inspiration came from. == List of Alpha Phi Omega members == |
|||
Just a note, I'm probably responsible for about 95% of the entries on the page (over the last decade or so), and I do have a COI (I'm an Alpha Phi Omega brother) , though I tend to work across the articles on Fraternities and Sororities as well. I've tended to work under the idea that University Presidents should be on the list regardless of whether they have an article given that they have equal level of notability regardless of whether they have an article. The issues of the Torch and Trefoil are available online if that helps, I just haven't gone through the slog of linking them since that doesn't matter to notability. Looking forward to your work.Naraht (talk) 14:00, 4 January 2024 (UTC) |
|||
:The H symbol was an effort a *long* time ago to change some of the text to a graphic to make it shorter. If that is what makes sense to more closely align it with List of Alpha Phi Alpha brothers, so be it. Note, APO USA and APO Philippines *both* start with Alpha and go to Omega, then Alpha Alpha and so on. Alpha for the USA is Lafayette College, Alpha for the Philippines is Far Eastern University and so on, so *something* needing to distinguish the Philippine chapters from the US chapters is needed. Also there are some brothers from the Philippines which are Honorary brothers of APO-USA (like Carlos Romulo). Given that the change has started, I'm willing to help if you are comfortable that it isn't an edit that COI would cause an issue with. And I am an Alpha Phi Omega brother, *but* the concensus on WP:FRAT has generally been that edits to chapter listing and member listings aren't particularly ones that COI influences, your call.Naraht (talk) 00:22, 5 January 2024 (UTC) |
|||
::Naraht, thank you, and good work keeping that list very well-sourced over the years. My knowledge of fraternities is minimal and surface-level (I was once offered a bid for my university's chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, but did not take it due to in-fighting in the chapter). I think any COI you have is minimal here, as this is just a list of notables, so go for it. Curbon7 (talk) 00:31, 5 January 2024 (UTC) |
|||
:::While I may not theoretically have COI, it *is* an article that I do take a *great* deal of personal pride in. Over the last decade the Alpha Phi Omega national office has started checking its list of Notable members against this article. :) Then you make a wonderful NPOV person on the article. Now what I really should do is take all of the references that are to the Torch and Trefoil (our national magazine) and turn them into cite web and link them appropriate to http://www.apoarchive.org/ .Naraht (talk) 01:00, 5 January 2024 (UTC) |
|||
===Philippines=== |
|||
The change you've made simply won't work. With the way that you have it, you haven't added *anything* visible to differentiate between someone who is a member of Alpha chapter of APO-USA and Alpha chapter of APO-Phil. *something* needs to be on each line indicating if the membership is in APO-Phil or APO-USA.Naraht (talk) 01:26, 5 January 2024 (UTC) |

|||
::Ah. Missed that you added (Philippines) in a previous edit. Sorry. Also, if you get the chance, I did add two COI edit templates to the talk page for one row addition and one reference for an unreferenced entry. Also, a request, if you start removing entries, could you that separately so that I can get a clean diff showing which ones are removed for lack of reference?Naraht (talk) 01:54, 5 January 2024 (UTC) |

== Lieutenant Governors & Generals. == |
|||
Looking through the listings, I'm surprised that you consider the Lieutenant Governors of Philippine provinces to be non-notable. I believe that Lieutenant Governors of US States would be considered so, so I think that fits the same rule. Also, I know that WP:NSOLDIER doesn't apply any more, but the question is whether Generals should be in a list like this, I believe that they should. Let me know when you get to the end of the trimming and I'll go through the list of the deleted specifically..Naraht (talk) 14:05, 9 January 2024 (UTC) |
|||
:As the Philippines is a unitary country, provincial officials do not meet WP:NPOL. My understanding of MOS:LIST is that dynamic lists such as this should only include notable examples (which means (a) currently existing articles, or (b) definitively notable redlinks, such as those who pass NPOL or who blatantly meet WP:GNG). Curbon7 (talk) 20:52, 9 January 2024 (UTC) |

== DRV close == |
|||
Hi, I understand that you undid the close, but I actually did not miss any of the facts, and closed the way I did for a reason. I do not consider that nomination to be a request to review of the linked AfD, I don't think that that AfDs close was truly challenged, and I consider that a page reinstatement request for the BJP Annamalai over the existing one. It's a "clear the name to free it up for the other politician" request, and the putative challenge of the AfD close is obviously perfunctory and frankly offensive, I don't take it in good faith, and that AfD was disruptive in and of itself. —Alalch E. 23:08, 23 March 2024 (UTC) |
|||
:Considering this, that AfD does not need to be endorsed to stand. —Alalch E. 23:09, 23 March 2024 (UTC) |
|||
::I would note however that the filer included the phrase several times (though in fairness it seems to quite matter to them), and their original rationale focused primarily on AIADMK Annamalai with little paid to BJP Annamalai until after I WP:HEYed the article. Curbon7 (talk) 23:14, 23 March 2024 (UTC) |
|||
:::Please, consider everything that the nominator wrote as a whole and understand the intent. It is very clearly a tendentious and abuse-of-process request intended to enable the creation of the article about the BJP Annamalai that masquerades as a challenge of the other Annamalai's keep AfD, and it was started during an existing DRV about the BJP Annamalai that was not going well. See how participants suggested literally banning the nominator, adding the page to DEEPER etc. This is not my original reasoning. —Alalch E. 23:20, 23 March 2024 (UTC) |
|||
:::All in all, you undid my close based on your belief that I didn't have the right facts, and that I misidentified the AfD, but I did actually have the right facts, and I have my reasoning that could be somewhat different than yours, and I stand by my close as a proper and needed close. A moderate difference in opinion should not be a reason for you to undo my close. You should still see my close at least as reasonable. I actually think it's excelletn. I propose that you undo the reversal of the close, because it is not an "improper close" as you wrote.—Alalch E. 23:26, 23 March 2024 (UTC) |
|||
::::On re-reading the filer also state , so it's clear what their ultimate intent is, but I would still argue that the topics here are distanced. Regardless, the DRV has been re-closed as endorsed by Pppery. Curbon7 (talk) 23:49, 23 March 2024 (UTC) |

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points. |
|||
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive. |
|||
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion. |
|||
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated! |

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. ==Blank draft pages== |

== About learning == |
|||
Hello, Curbon7, |
|||
I was looking at our CSD G13 list for April 20, 2024 and saw all of these blank drafts on State legislatures coming due at the 22:32 UTC hour (you can sort the list by time). There is practically no content so I was going to delete them as test edits and then I saw that you were the page creator. So, do you think you are going to create content on them over the next day? If you want to keep blank pages, it's better to keep them in your User space so you don't have to worry about G13 (as long as you don't have an AFC template on the page). Even if you make a minor edit to try to delay deletion, they really should be deleted as test pages as they are simply empty pages with no information. So, assuming that no one else comes across them before you come back to Wikipedia, what do you intend to do with them? At this point, they have existed as blank pages since May 2023. Thanks. <span style="font-family:Papyrus; color:#800080;">Liz</span> Read! Talk! 05:08, 20 April 2024 (UTC) |

Hi @Curbon7, |
|||
I'm glad to see you're making bold assertions and I'd like to discuss this MfD, if you don't mind. I'm all about bringing history into a modern context and agree that sometimes changes are needed. But IMHO the userbox thing demonstrates more about the nominators than about the nominated. Deleting entire user pages is outrageous practice for reasons having nothing to do with content. I'd be happy to engage with you if you were willing. We may disagree but I think I have something to learn here. Please help me. :BusterD, Always glad to see you! My logic here was in relation to SmokeyJoe's rationale on the other MfDs for the userboxen, in which Joe argued that since those userboxen had no pageviews and no uses, MfDing was only drawing unneeded attention to them, and that it would have been preferred to just silently blank them. That is a completely valid argument, but I disagreed there, as I think inflammatory and hateful userboxen should be explicitly deleted, to make it clear that hate is not welcome here. However, with regards to the userpage, seeing as it was a user who had only made 7 edits during their tenure, and their last edit was 6 years ago, and the userbox in question is manually written in, I think it would have just been preferable to just remove it from the userpage and be done with it, instead of blowing it up more. |
|||
:I concur with your statement that "". I think that there is a distinction between deleting a userbox, which is relatively minor but can be used by other users, and deleting an entire singular userpage when there is an easier alternative. The latter can become quickly problematic and, as you said, censorious. This is very nuanced, but I hope that I explained my logic well enough smiley Curbon7 (talk) 18:05, 3 October 2022 (UTC) |

::I have asked SmokeyJoe's thoughts as well. My concern is largely perceptual, but I take issues when wikipedians attempt to right great wrongs in user space. I've been keenly aware from my first edits that page history would eventually tell my tale so I don't put offensive stuff on my own page if I can avoid doing so. Deciding where the line is to be drawn deserves a broader discussion than one inbox at a time. BusterD (talk) 22:59, 3 October 2022 (UTC) |

What makes the Florida Senate Race too soon to have its own article but not all the other 2024 Senate races? The incumbent has declared and a serious challenger has legitimately expressed interest! Every other race with a declared incumbent has an article, even races without a declared incumbent have articles. But for some reason you have an issue with Florida having one! If there was an error in how I created the page then fix the error. I copied how the Texas page was done but fixed everything to read Florida, I'm sure there was mistakes in there! Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. Awards: Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to MPGuy2824), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to John B123 for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page. Check out the new Hall of Fame also. |

*Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial) |
|||
*Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue. |

Backlog: Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. :Riverbend21, In my view, his notability is marginal at best. While his company is notable, that does not necessarily equate to him being notable; in turn, many of the news articles about LBRY are about LBRY not about Kauffman. As far as political antics, that seems to be mostly in relation to a series of tweets relating to the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire, and as such is covered at that article. Profiles, such as Ballotpedia and this, are fine as supplementary sources, but on their own do not demonstrate notability. :::X-Editor, To find ideas, I patrol SDZeroBot reports (namely, Draftify Watch, G13 soon, and Recent AfC declines), compile them into a subpages in my sandbox based on topic (such as User:Curbon7/sandbox/Politicians). |
|||
:::When writing, I like to compile all the sources first, then I throw all of the information onto the draft haphazardly (which is very helpful for when sources conflict), then pull all the prose together, and then add sources at the very end. You can see this process with the one I've been working on right now: Draft:Sedrak Saroyan. Sometimes this process can take only a few hours (Samson Mwita Marwa) and sometimes it is a month-long endeavor (Betty Hall). |
|||
:::I like to create articles as complete and holistic as possible, so I try to use every possible source I have available to me, as I dislike creating stubs. Sometimes, the sources I have available to me (Google, GBooks, newspapers.com) don't have a lot to say about a person and so there is no choice but a stub (example), even though I'm sure offline sources about this person exist. Can you like not revert my edits with no probable cause as to you reverting them. I assumed the reason you reverted my edit on the page for Miami-Dade County because of the edit summary and the fact that I forgot to add a source but I didnt think I needed to source it because as you can tell from the map in the infobox it's obvious that it's in the southern half of Florida, but I added it anyway so that you dont revert it back. I started a RFD discussion consistent with next steps outlined in the prod process. In my opinion, to improve the article to an acceptable standard would involve finding sources (tried) or deleting unsupported statements (blanking - not acceptable). I cannot find any sources of merit let alone quality sources. I perceive the article has been written as a memorial; for a subject that is not notable. :Oknevermind, It is a WP:BLP violation of the utmost level to assert that someone committed torture and war crimes without very reliable sources. I found this 2018 Miami Herald article which states that as a JAG officer, DeSantis aided in the legal defense of the detained. Now, I assume you are asserting basing on this podcast segment, where a supposed former detainee alleges that DeSantis was involved in torture at GITMO. Wikipedia operates based on reliable sources; that has to be one of the most unreliable sources I've ever seen, besides the fact that it is a primary source. If there was even a modicum of a scoop here, a mainstream outlet would've picked it up a long time ago. Curbon7 (talk) 04:25, 26 November 2022 (UTC) |

== Drive-by tagging == |
|||
:Oknevermind, just for the record, I don't like DeSantis and I voted for Crist. Back to the topic, The guy being a "firsthand witness" shows that this is a primary source. A NYT investigation, a CNN report, etc, are secondary sources; we need those. Primary sources are impossible to verify and are subject to no editorial oversight or fact checking. Basically, we are just taking this guy at his word. Our Biographies of living persons policy is very strict about what is and is not allowed on Wikipedia with regards to living people (due to defamation laws, libel, etc), and it essentially boils down to the strength of the sourcing; if the sourcing is very weak at the moment, such as in this case, than the appropriate course of action would be to exclude the content for now. I really hope this helps you understand how crucial our BLP policy is. Curbon7 (talk) 06:27, 26 November 2022 (UTC) |

Re: your recent (subsequently deleted) contribution to COIN... |
|||
I do take your general point, however my feeling was that when I originally tagged the article on 22/8 it was not "drive-by" as I had linked to the ongoing discussion at COIN in my edit summary (albeit that the link didn't actually work as I had intended). |
|||
So I appreciate you clarifying Wikipedia's policies, but I DID comment on the discussion page and not the article itself. It was wrong of you to threaten to suspend my editing privileges. And no, I did NOT think you were a partisan DeSantis supporter acting in bad faith. With that olive branch, I wish you a good night, my friend. |
|||
However, if I had done something incorrect (as may well have been the case) I'd be grateful if you could clarify for me, as I do try to abide by the relevant policies and guidelines. |
|||
Many thanks, Axad12 (talk) 09:52, 28 August 2024 (UTC) |
|||
:I removed the word drive-by prior to just reverting the entire comment, as I felt it was indeed poor word choice for that particular situation. My point was that when two stalwart sides are deadlocked like that, it is much more constructive to break that deadlock (in this case through AfD) than to continue it. Curbon7 (talk) 19:53, 29 August 2024 (UTC) |
|||
::Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I agree. The whole thing seems to have been complete storm in a teacup. However, at least there is now an AfD where users can disagree over the (at best) borderline claim to notability, rather than a silly ongoing disagreement on the rights or wrongs of the tagging. |

Mary Woffington
[edit]Hello, Curbon7. This is a courtesy notice that the copy edit you requested for Mary Woffington at the Guild of Copy Editors requests page is now complete. All feedback welcome! Cheers, Baffle☿gab 02:34, 11 November 2023 (UTC) |

- Aww shucks, Curbon7 ... *blushes* ... I hope this one maintains the standard you expect of me. :) Cheers, Baffle☿gab 02:34, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
- One thing I'm unsure of is Mary's father's name; the article had "Arthur/John Woffington"; I read the slash as denoting uncertainty about the first name so I've left "Arthur or John Woffington" in the article, though it might be "Arthur John Woffington" with the slash being a typo. Anyway' I'm sure you'll correct it! :) Cheers, Baffle☿gab 02:49, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
- Yes that is correct, several equally reliable sources conflict on what her father's name is. Curbon7 (talk) 03:36, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
- No problem, that's what I thought, maybe a footnote about the conflict between authors would be useful to readers. Anyway, good luck with your planned GA nom. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 18:17, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

[edit]List of Alpha Phi Omega members
[edit]Just a note, I'm probably responsible for about 95% of the entries on the page (over the last decade or so), and I do have a COI (I'm an Alpha Phi Omega brother) , though I tend to work across the articles on Fraternities and Sororities as well. Looking forward to your work.Naraht (talk) 14:00, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- The H symbol was an effort a *long* time ago to change some of the text to a graphic to make it shorter. And I am an Alpha Phi Omega brother, *but* the concensus on WP:FRAT has generally been that edits to chapter listing and member listings aren't particularly ones that COI influences, your call.Naraht (talk) 00:22, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- Naraht, thank you, and good work keeping that list very well-sourced over the years. Curbon7 (talk) 00:31, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- While I may not theoretically have COI, it *is* an article that I do take a *great* deal of personal pride in. Over the last decade the Alpha Phi Omega national office has started checking its list of Notable members against this article. :) Then you make a wonderful NPOV person on the article. Now what I really should do is take all of the references that are to the Torch and Trefoil (our national magazine) and turn them into cite web and link them appropriate to http://www.apoarchive.org/ .Naraht (talk) 01:00, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Philippines
[edit]The change you've made simply won't work. With the way that you have it, you haven't added *anything* visible to differentiate between someone who is a member of Alpha chapter of APO-USA and Alpha chapter of APO-Phil. *something* needs to be on each line indicating if the membership is in APO-Phil or APO-USA.Naraht (talk) 01:26, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- Is (Philippines) next to the chapter name not enough? I'm not sure the ante version is compliant with MOS:FLAG. Curbon7 (talk) 01:35, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- Ah. Missed that you added (Philippines) in a previous edit. Sorry. Also, if you get the chance, I did add two COI edit templates to the talk page for one row addition and one reference for an unreferenced entry. Also, a request, if you start removing entries, could you that separately so that I can get a clean diff showing which ones are removed for lack of reference?Naraht (talk) 01:54, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
Lieutenant Governors & Generals.
[edit]Looking through the listings, I'm surprised that you consider the Lieutenant Governors of Philippine provinces to be non-notable. I believe that Lieutenant Governors of US States would be considered so, so I think that fits the same rule. Also, I know that WP:NSOLDIER doesn't apply any more, but the question is whether Generals should be in a list like this, I believe that they should. Let me know when you get to the end of the trimming and I'll go through the list of the deleted specifically..Naraht (talk) 14:05, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- As the Philippines is a unitary country, provincial officials do not meet WP:NPOL. My understanding of MOS:LIST is that dynamic lists such as this should only include notable examples (which means (a) currently existing articles, or (b) definitively notable redlinks, such as those who pass NPOL or who blatantly meet WP:GNG). Curbon7 (talk) 20:52, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, didn't see your response. Hmm. Will have to go through TP:GNG more clearly for those. Have you completed the trimming?Naraht (talk) 19:06, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I understand that you undid the close, but I actually did not miss any of the facts, and closed the way I did for a reason. —Alalch E. 23:08, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- Considering this, that AfD does not need to be endorsed to stand. —Alalch E. 23:09, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- I would note however that the filer included the phrase
It doesn't matter to me whether BKA has an article or not, so let us even ignore BKA
several times (though in fairness it seems to quite matter to them), and their original rationale focused primarily on AIADMK Annamalai with little paid to BJP Annamalai until after I WP:HEYed the article. Curbon7 (talk) 23:14, 23 March 2024 (UTC)- Please, consider everything that the nominator wrote as a whole and understand the intent. —Alalch E. 23:20, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- All in all, you undid my close based on your belief that I didn't have the right facts, and that I misidentified the AfD, but I did actually have the right facts, and I have my reasoning that could be somewhat different than yours, and I stand by my close as a proper and needed close. A moderate difference in opinion should not be a reason for you to undo my close. You should still see my close at least as reasonable. I actually think it's excelletn. I propose that you undo the reversal of the close, because it is not an "improper close" as you wrote.—Alalch E. 23:26, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- On re-reading the filer also state
I will attempt to put down my arguments to why the page K. Annamalai is not deserved by the subject of it, but instead is deserved by the other guy
, so it's clear what their ultimate intent is, but I would still argue that the topics here are distanced. Regardless, the DRV has been re-closed as endorsed by Pppery. Curbon7 (talk) 23:49, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

[edit]New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024
[edit]Hello Curbon7,
Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!
2023 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Pages Patrol Discord.

Blank draft pages
[edit]Hello, Curbon7,
I was looking at our CSD G13 list for April 20, 2024 and saw all of these blank drafts on State legislatures coming due at the 22:32 UTC hour (you can sort the list by time). Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 05:08, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks Liz. This was a project I never got around to completing and likely will not; I've lost the main source I was using and have been unable to find it again (I think it got removed off of JSTOR). It seems I had forgotten to G7 these. Thanks for reaching out. Curbon7 (talk) 05:35, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- I wasn't expecting you to tag them CSD G7 but I guess it was one way to resolve the issue and I didn't end up filling up your User talk page with CSD G13 notices! Those draft pages are always there if you want to get the project started up again! Liz Read! Talk! 21:19, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

[edit]"The only thing I care about here is that the articles I create are sufficiently linked. If there is an applicable country subarticle (1975 in Austria does not currently exist) I always add new creations there, if there is not then I must add to the main year article until such a page is created."
- No, you mustn't add to the main year article. The most appropriate course of action is to create the sub-article. If you can't manage that, it must be because nothing of note happened in that year in Austria. Deb (talk) 18:17, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

My edit to Miami-Dade County
[edit]Can you like not revert my edits with no probable cause as to you reverting them. - I was going to move it to mainspace anyways, as it is a notable and sufficient draft. It is more convenient to move an AFC draft using AFCH, as this automatically cleans up the draft and notifies the creator. This saves at least a few minutes from using the normal page move tool. Drive-by tagging
[edit]Re: your recent (subsequently deleted) contribution to COIN...
I do take your general point, however my feeling was that when I originally tagged the article on 22/8 it was not "drive-by" as I had linked to the ongoing discussion at COIN in my edit summary (albeit that the link didn't actually work as I had intended).
However, if I had done something incorrect (as may well have been the case) I'd be grateful if you could clarify for me, as I do try to abide by the relevant policies and guidelines.
Many thanks, Axad12 (talk) 09:52, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- I removed the word drive-by prior to just reverting the entire comment, as I felt it was indeed poor word choice for that particular situation. My point was that when two stalwart sides are deadlocked like that, it is much more constructive to break that deadlock (in this case through AfD) than to continue it. Curbon7 (talk) 19:53, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I agree. The whole thing seems to have been complete storm in a teacup. However, at least there is now an AfD where users can disagree over the (at best) borderline claim to notability, rather than a silly ongoing disagreement on the rights or wrongs of the tagging.
