Hello, I'm Flibirigit. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, :1975 Memorial Cup, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. == Medallist == |
|||
Hello, I noticed you changed the spelling of medallist at the 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts article to the US spelling of the word. Please note that if an article is about a Canadian topic, then Canadian English is to be used (see WP:ENGVAR). Thanks! -- Earl Andrew - talk 20:25, 25 February 2024 (UTC) |

Please stop. :@Magnolia677 So if my edit was unsourced, then why is the rest of Oulahen's coaching record still there - unsourced? All I was doing was updating it until the end of the 2023-24 season using the template already in place to keep it accurate and up-to-date, rather then four years outdated. Using your logic, basically every hockey head coach - NHL, AHL, ECHL, OHL, WHL, QMJHL, etc... is not sourced properly. Also, Oulahen's coaching record is sourced under external links on his page, specifically from The Internet Hockey Database. Hello Frontsfan2005! I have noticed your frequent activity in articles related to the Columbus Blue Jackets. I have started a WikiProject that focuses on all articles related to the Columbus Blue Jackets. I was wondering if you were interested in joining. If you are, please leave a message on my talk page, so that the Project will be more organized. Thanks! 1bevingtonco (talk) 00:52, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

WOAA and hockey stuff
[edit]Hey, have you ever found a newspaper that does the WOAA's standings? DMighton (talk) 05:13, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- No, never have found the standings in a newspaper, just on the internet. Frontsfan2005 (talk) 17:01, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Frustrating... I found some partials from the 80s and 70s in the Owen Sound Sun Times.... I also found from ones from around 2001 in the London Free Press... and the Elora, Fergus, and Mount Forest's papers were void of anything other than the odd article. I'm kinda crossing my fingers that I'll find something in the Guelph Mercury or Durham Chronical someday. The WOAA is hard to uncover and I've heard they don't like being asked about it. Article Assessment
[edit]Great work on all the Black Hawks articles. I'm assessing them right now, and I've deemed some start worthy and some stub worthy. There is no place in the header to substantiate my decisions, but if you do have qualms with my assessments, post either on my page or on the talk page of those Black Hawks articles. Thanks Fdssdf (talk) 20:59, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Hello, Frontsfan2005. I've nominated these two articles you worked on, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Wikipedia:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article at Template talk:Did you know#Articles created/expanded on April 10, where you can improve it if you see fit. Please add references (and inline citations) to the articles ASAP. Many thanks. -PFHLai (talk) 17:33, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

- Very cool, thanks for accepting the nomination, I do enjoy writing about historical seasons, will keep at it when I have the time. Frontsfan2005 (talk) 03:15, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- More good stuffs coming ? Good. Please be encouraged to self-nominate. Thank you, in advance. DYK, often loaded with football and cricket, could use more hockey. Cheers! :-) --PFHLai (talk) 04:52, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Ice Hockey
[edit]Having just noticed that you were the prime motivator to having 1917–18 Toronto Hockey Club season and 1921–22 Toronto St. Patricks season being featured on the Main Page as Did You Know's, I want to invite you to join WP:HOCKEY, as it doesn't appear you are. It's mostly just basic guidlines for articles on hockey, which it seems you already know. But having another user add their voice to discussion would always be welcome. Good job on getting the articles on the front. Kaiser matias (talk) 04:51, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

2008-09 WOAASHL Season
[edit]Was wondering if you will be updating that again. Also, if you are interested in doing it more comprehensively... http://icehockey.wikia.com/ is a good place... I've done some work there... http://icehockey.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_WOAA_Senior_Seasons DMighton (talk) 02:04, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

- Good to here... it was nice last year. DMighton (talk) 18:10, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- What do you think of the season thus far? Shelburne, Palmerston, and Saugeen Shores look tough in the North... and Petrolia, Tavi, and Clinton in the South... Durham is doing better than I thought they would after last year... Tillsonburg isn't doing as well as I thought they would... Milverton is playing so bad they might give Thedford their first ever win eventually... what happened there? And apparently moving almost all the way to Alliston didn't help the River Rats! DMighton (talk) 17:40, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- Elora has rebounded pretty well after their 0-2 start, they'll be tough to beat out in a 7 game series. Durham is looking better than I thought also, and its good to see a team like Drayton get a few more wins this year after struggling for their first three years. I dont know whats going on in Milverton, and Thedford's losing streak is well over 50 games now, surely they're about due for a victory... Frontsfan2005 (talk) 19:49, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
- Petrolia is doing exactly what I thought they would do... but... I want them to do well... but I kinda hope a traditional team wins it this year... not the Squires. But then again... it would be good for the town of Petrolia after years of hockey futility. DMighton (talk) 05:25, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

WOAA vs. Rest of Canada
[edit]I did some research tonight... I wanted to compare provinces and their Sr. leagues...
- Alberta - 5 leagues
- Saskatchewan - 15 leagues
- Manitoba - 5 leagues
- Ontario - 2 leagues
- Maritimes - 5 leagues
I haven't tackled BC or Quebec yet, and I doubt I was 100% thorough with the other provinces... but isn't it odd that the province with the biggest population has the least Sr. leagues? Also the WOAA appears to be the biggest and oldest league in Canada... and it is one of the few that isn't affiliated with Hockey Canada.
Also, if you get a chance... I've been building up Allan Cup related articles (see the years) and even made a Hardy Cup article. I've also uncovered that the K-W Record covered the WOAA in the 1950s... game scores... but not standings. DMighton (talk) 04:15, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

I made an edit with an edit summary asking about it, and you seem to have overlooked it, so I will ask here.
I noticed in the standings that Niagara, in the Central Division, has more points (96) than Ottawa, in the Eastern Division (93 after today's win). Therefore, it would make sense to me that the second seed is Niagara, and the third seed is Ottawa. Is there a reason you had Ottawa as second seed that I do not know about, whose rule is sourced somewhere? Has the playoff schedule been announced and they've been deemed second seed? When you updated the table, you never changed the table to match my edit nor did you correct my edit, so I am wondering. CycloneGU (talk) 01:34, 21 March 2011 (UTC)
- All right, I just found an OHL article listing them as second seed. I don't get it, but I'll reverse my change. CycloneGU (talk) 01:40, 21 March 2011 (UTC)
- Division winners get the first two seeds in their conference no matter their point total. In the East, Mississauga had 108, Niagara 96 and Ottawa 93, but since Ottawa won the East division, while Niagara finished in second in the Central, they get the second seed, despite fewer points. Its the OHL's way to reward a team for finishing in first place. Hope that clears it up! Frontsfan2005 (talk) 04:23, 21 March 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I found the article on the site from March 19 and figured that was exactly it. Still odd, because anyone looking at the points would presume Niagara 2nd...but yeah, reverted to match the source. =) CycloneGU (talk) 04:43, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Hiya
[edit]Are you currently working on the conference leaderboard updates? I see less than 3 left in the Kitchener game, the rest are done, so I can do that right now if you want to handle scoring leaders. Yakupov is now behind both Barrie players by one point but will likely gain the lead 2morrow against London as Barrie takes the day off. CycloneGU (talk) 02:13, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't know you were working on the standings, but I've got everything updated. Yakupov will probably be the leading scorer by tomorrow, although London is pretty solid defensively. Should be a good game! Frontsfan2005 (talk) 02:21, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- Ah...I didn't know if you were already working on it. I got edit conflicts, so if it's all updated, I'll let it be.
- I'll be at that game 2morrow - have Sarnia season tix. It's really proving to be the best start to a season Sarnia's had in a while - if not ever. Making for quite the buzz (pun fully intended) in Sarnia. Listened to the Sting on CHOK this evening, and man, what a finish to that one. CycloneGU (talk) 02:24, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- Nice win by your Sting today, and you were right, Yakupov is the leader scorer in the league. As a Senators fan, I'm hoping they continue to "Fail for Nail" and get the first overall pick... Congrats, you guys are a serious contender, and its always good to see a new team up there in contention. Frontsfan2005 (talk) 21:45, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- Well, it was kinda expected - at least, it was expected by me. Look who won last season (Owen Sound) and how they finished 9th in their conference the season before (2009-10). Sarnia finished 9th in 2010-11, so we have high expectations now. When I went to the Black and Gold game (August 30, part of their training camp and the session advertised for fans to come see), there were over 1,400 people there to see it, and I was already calling for the Sting to win the Memorial Cup this season simply because Owen Sound did it, and we have a dream team in terms of being - as CTV London put it - "stacked". (That turnout tells you that people were interested in seeing what was developing - we were actually talking about the Sting all summer with all the trades.) CTV London later confirmed my call on their own, then they got Domi's boy and the focus left Sarnia to follow the home team again (though occasionally we get highlights - especially when we play against London =D). We became concerned when we lost a game to Windsor, but two weeks later had a nice come-from-behind on them to get into the honourable mentions of the CHL Top 10 - and now that we beat #1 ranked London, I think the people doing the rankings will have to adjust the two teams on the list appropriately. =D Granted, Windsor might have a spot there, too, or Mississauga... CycloneGU (talk) 02:37, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
- In other hockey whereabouts, I chose to follow the Dallas Stars this season after they drafted Brett Ritchie in the 2nd round in June. Surprisingly, they are 4-1 with very poor attendance turnouts (Texas is in the World Series now; they've been drawing the crowds throughout October). We'll see what happens as November approaches there, but fans seem to think the opposing teams simply aren't good teams having already discounted the Stars themselves as a poor team. I guess we'll see! CycloneGU (talk) 02:42, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

You here this evening? All the games are over and I came to check the standings but you haven't edited yet. =) If you haven't started, let's split the job; I'll do the standings, you get the leaders. CycloneGU (talk) 03:05, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
- Never mind, guess you took the night off. =) I've updated everything. I've made a couple of changes though: I changed the division order in one conference to match the OHL site, and I also put spaces between numbers and cell separators for easier looking when editing the top players/goalies. I want to make a suggestion for goalies, however (top scorers is not affected, it's the only identical one). All the stats (columns) are in a completely different order at the OHL site, and my method of updating the stats is via copying and pasting, then replacing the tabs in the data with cell separators instead. It's quicker to update and has zero chance of a mistake as long as you change the player's name and team where necessary, and only the odd column (like Percentage in the team standings) needs to be removed. I get why wins and losses are first in our goalie tables, but the most important stat of all - save percentage - is at the end of the table on our version, ironically; the OHL site has it in the middle, with wins and losses at the end (it's not relevant to the statistics, it could be reasonably omitted in fact). Thoughts? CycloneGU (talk) 03:42, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
- I was at a game last night, so couldn't do an update... When I started doing updates for the OHL (I came on and they weren't updated for weeks), I just followed the format that was being used at the time, and is used for all the previous season summaries. As for goaltenders, they are listed in order of GAA, which is the last column, that could probably be moved somewhere else, I guess the original person who made the tables wanted to put it at the end... Maybe it'd be best to bold the GAA to highlight that is how the goaltenders are being ranked? BTW, nice win by the Sting yesterday, beat a very good Kitchener team, came a little short tonight in the shootout though. Frontsfan2005 (talk) 21:52, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- Let me guess: you were at the Kingston game? =D
- The majority of charts are formatted fine the way they are, but something to keep in mind is that once we decide the proper way to do it from here forward, we should as a rule go back and adjust it properly on all OHL season articles (not the leagues leading to the OHL, just actual OHL seasons) as far back as we have statistics for in each category. Otherwise someone could change it around on us again saying they're doing it to match the other articles. Regarding the goalies chart, the win-loss record really has nothing to do with the rankings, and I don't know why the OHL even includes them. I'm curious about your thoughts on removing them? The rest of the chart should otherwise match the order given at the OHL site in the same chart, I think. I'm headed to bed as I type, so I'll take another look 2morrow evening and see what I think while it's an off-day. CycloneGU (talk) 04:28, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Ties
[edit]Is the number of wins not the determining factor? Right now, if both were tied, we'd say the team with more wins is in 8th place. CycloneGU (talk) 14:41, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
- No, number of wins isn't the determining factor in the OHL, if two teams are tied for eighth place, they will play a one game playoff. The official OHL site doesn't have Belleville qualified for the post-season yet. Frontsfan2005 (talk) 00:45, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, I think I see...it helps with seeding for the first seven positions, but it doesn't apply to 8th place, which has to be a clear points advantage in some way. Odd that it's different there, but I can see why they do that. CycloneGU (talk) 22:33, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
Good timing - I just clicked Edit and see you've started to update. What a wild night in the Western Conference, eh? So happy the Sting have clinched home ice with the huge black cloud hanging over them (all the injuries), pity that the first round is against Saginaw and I can't do roadies because I can't travel across the border (no passport). Too bad for your Frontenacs, however; they didn't have a good season, it appears. CycloneGU (talk) 01:53, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
- The Sting-Spirit series should be a good one, that sucks you can't catch the road games, hopefully they'll be televised... Yea, a rough season in Kingston, it was expected though, I'm actually surprised they won as many games as they did, before the season they were predicted to win under 10 games. I really like the Kujawinski trade, he's going to be a stud. They have a couple of really high draft picks coming up, so hopefully the future will be bright. - Well, my concern is whether Neulion has footage at a minimum (Saginaw usually broadcasts something, even if it's a radio feed with in-building camera not necessarily matching the radio) and how much getting the coverage will cost me (definitely cheaper than a passport). I know Sudbury only broadcast Friday games this season, for example, and a Saturday game the Sting played there was announced by some guy sitting next to or behind the camera; I still remember when Boucher's wrist shot shattered a pane of glass he called on the City of Sudbury saying, "You'll have to fix that one!" So broadcast or not, we'll usually get something, but the quality can vary from game to game. If there's a broadcast, we get that by default.
- Regarding the division page, the Web site shows the divisions in the order that was on the page earlier today. I'm actually thinking of taking it a step further and going back by each season to merge the division tables into a single conference table much like 2011-12 NHL season does with three divisions per conference. The OHL feeds into the NHL, so we might as well try to be consistent with how the NHL one is done. I'll do that myself going back in the seasons, hence why I didn't yet flip them back around to match the Web site as I originally did on one of my first edits to the page. CycloneGU (talk) 02:41, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
- BTW, remember where Kujawinski came from. We had so much talent that he was not getting a chance to shine; I hear he really came to life in Kingston. You should be happy he'll be there to anchor the team next season and perhaps the next one or two after that as well. CycloneGU (talk) 02:45, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

My Thoughts for All OHL Pages
[edit]I recall you saying you just came in and picked up with what was there before, but now I want to suggest making a new standard. 2011-12 NHL season has a sortable table built-in on the season page, which itself is a separate page for each conference. I'm proposing something of the same for the OHL seasons. See below for how the Eastern Conference of the OHL would appear for this season, for instance; that chart would be transcluded into the main season page in place of the two tables currently there.
I haven't copied and edited the documentation as yet (if you agree to utilize this, I'll do so and create the Western Conference page as well and its documentation). The V/T/E above the chart lead to the templates own read, talk, and edit pages.
I haven't explored other tables as yet and whether they are also separate templates, but there are ways to include individual rows from this template on other pages. For instance, if you wanted to highlight the Kingston Frontenacs season stats on their article, you could do so (this is in fact a transclusion):

My team isn't in this table, but a similar example would be typed as this:

Let me know what you think. I can help date this back as far as necessary, definitely back to the five preceding seasons at a minimum and hopefully as far back as the start of the OHL. CycloneGU (talk) 15:31, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Chris DePiero
[edit]The article Chris DePiero has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Hockey coach fails WP:NHOCKEY, does not meet WP:GNG.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Flibirigit (talk) 05:33, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

Don’t show any personal information. For example, your birth date. You are allowed to show barnstars if you want. You can show links to websites and other things.

[edit]Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Ryan Oulahen, you may be blocked from editing. You have had multiple warnings about unsourced content. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:46, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Magnolia677 So if my edit was unsourced, then why is the rest of Oulahen's coaching record still there - unsourced? All I was doing was updating it until the end of the 2023-24 season using the template already in place to keep it accurate and up-to-date, rather then four years outdated. Using your logic, basically every hockey head coach - NHL, AHL, ECHL, OHL, WHL, QMJHL, etc... is not sourced properly. Also, Oulahen's coaching record is sourced under external links on his page, specifically from The Internet Hockey Database. Frontsfan2005 (talk) 16:38, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
