The district of Jubeiha includes a pedestrian area opposite the University of Jordan's North Gate. Major attractions include several cafes, as well as the University Mall. Cooler temperatures are prevalent throughout the summer. Most times, visitors park on the side of Abu Nair Road, overlooking the city of Baq'aa. Visitors often enjoy hot or cold beverages, smoking water pipes and enjoying the city's view, particularly during sunset. The Jubeiha Amusement City was a landmark that distinguished the district and was the largest amusement park in the country. The amusement park was permanently closed in 2017 because of deterioration of the rides and structures.<ref>{{cite web |last1=Namrouqa |first1=Hana |title=Jubeiha Amusement Park shuts down permanently |url=http://www.jordantimes.com/news/local/jubeiha-amusement-park-shuts-down-permanently-0 |website=Jordan Times |access-date=10 December 2018 |language=en |date=9 May 2017}}</ref> Plans were announced in 2018 to develop the site into a gated park with various facilities for families, youth and the general populace.<ref>{{cite web |title=Plan to turn former Jubeiha Amusement Park into public park announced |url=http://bestprojectjo.org/new/plan-turn-former-jubeiha-amusement-park-public-park-announced |website=Siyaha |access-date=28 December 2018 |language=en |date=5 June 2018}}</ref> |

History
[edit]Rujm el-Jebeha, an archeological site in Al-Jubeiha, includes the remains of an Ammonite fortified tower similar to the Rujm Al-Malfouf.[1] It has been suggested that Rujm el-Jebeha was the site of biblical Jogbehah, and the modern-day district preserves its ancient name.[1][2]

It is home to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.[5]
Amenities
[edit]Jubeiha has a pedestrian area located opposite the University of Jordan's North Gate. The major attractions include cafes and the University Mall.
In 2018, plans were announced to develop the former Jubeiha Amusement City site into a gated park.[6][7]
The area contains a red-light district commonly nicknamed "Talaini" (طلّعني) street, or "pick-me-up" street. Residents have engaged in various efforts to reduce the amount of prostitution there.[8][9]
Geography
[edit]The district is located in western Amman, Jordan. Amman is the closest city.[10]
