:A useful link in the context of spoken fluency in English: http://www.fluentzy.com/fluencyfacts.asp (Note: Commercial website, but with a lot of useful information on developing fluency in spoken English). |

Ugh. We need to find a better link than this. - furrykef (Talk at me) 01:14, 14 December 2006 (UTC) |

The link to lesson plan by a teacher is not too good either.There are better sources, more academic, for ex. Also books, like Fluency and Its Teaching, by Marie-Noelle Guillot, etc.So far the article has no real citations, not much sources,getting information form commercial website is no the best idea.Bialosz (talk) 16:44, 3 April 2016 (UTC) |

The original article lumped speech-language pathology and language acquisition understandings of fluency together under the heading "speech." This didn't seem appropriate for language fluency, which can also encompass one's reading, listening, and writing skills (not just speech skills). I separated these sections. |

There seemed to be a bias inherent in the article that a "fluent" speaker of a language can't be highly proficient or bilingual, but fluency is just one term to characterize one's acquisition of and ability to use a language. A fluent speaker may have strong accuracy and complexity as well. Definitions of bilingualism are very polarized and unclear, so it seems biased to say someone who is a fluent speaker but illiterate is not bilingual. I added two additional reputable sources and took out some of the slant. Still needs a lot more. |

==Better source needed== |

A video, McREL - The Five Stages, is cited to verify a claim that second language acquisition has five stages. The speaker in the video seems to be an ESL/EFL lecturer, and there is nothing obviously wrong with what she says. However, the video refers to only one secondary source (Vygotsky 1978) for the notion that competence develops. It does not appear to cite external sources for these specific stages. I would prefer to see a source that is not self-published, as YouTube videos are. Cnilep (talk) 07:05, 3 January 2018 (UTC) |
