Cairo (/ˈkɛəroʊ/ KAIR-oh)[4] is a village in Hall County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 785 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Island, Nebraska Micropolitan Statistical Area.
History
[edit]Cairo was established in 1886 when the Grand Island and Wyoming Central Railroad was extended to that point.[5] It was named after Cairo, the capital of Egypt.[6] Many of the town's street names reinforce the "Egyptian" theme.[7]
