*[[Buran Voronezh]] and [[THK Tver]] of the lower level [[Russian Hockey League]] joined.
*The league was expanded with two more non-Russian teams, Belarusian [[Yunost Minsk]] and Kazakhstani [[Saryarka Karaganda]].
